I bought this tool for rebuilding a Dana 80 in a 2016 F-350. I had never done one before and probably won’t again but it works perfectly. I went with this one because the shipping was a little faster than the cheaper ones. The tool allowed me to install the differential carrier and shims without a fight. Well worth the purchase.

This diff spreader is heavy and well built. It's good enough to set up the diff on a Dana 30 on my old XJ. It takes a little grunt but it does the job well.

Differential housing spreader worked perfectly. It's heavy and the box was almost coning apart when it arrived.

When I picked up the box for this thing off my front porch I was amazed how heavy it was. This thing is beefy! Easily went together. Nice powder coated finish.The issue, which others have expressed on here, is it is not quite sized right for a Dana 60 and probably an 80. It needs more travel. So I'll be chopping it and adding some material to the non-twisting side to lengthen it. Other than that it should work great.

This is heavy and seems to be well built. I have a 97 F-350 with stock leaf springs. As I needed to replace the axle seals, the differential gear set has to come out. I was very excited to get this.When I put the truck up on the lift, I discovered that it was not going to work. On this truck, the hole on the axle tube that the spreader connects to, is covered by the u-bolt that holds the leaf spring to the front axle assembly. To use the tool, I would have had to drop the entire front axle or remove the leaf springs, neither was something that I wanted to do. So, I pulled the assembly out the old fashion way, with an old leather glove fed into the mesh between the ring and pinion gear, which pushed the assembly out, when the front drive shaft was turned.Neither this tool, or an official factory tool would have been able to be used with this axle/suspension setup.

This is super heavy duty! We used it on a Dana 60 and it worked perfectly! It’s heavy, but it really has to be to spread a heavy diff. Be aware that with some trusses and steering setups you have to remove quite a bit to make room. Also make sure you know what you’re doing so you don’t crack or distort the housing. It should only be spread like .020. Not much. But find out for yourself

I have been wanting one of these for a Very Long time. I mainly use it on DANA 30, 35, 44, 60 axles that I have for off-roading. This is very heavy duty and ready to go. Easier than prying them out and setting the shims. I highly recommend this for you DIY shade tree mechanics like me.
