They are bright lights. A little bit expensive and a little delicate. I’ve had to purchase it a few times because it’s the only one that fits on the top of my fish tank. Be careful not to jiggle it around too much.

This is the third one of these in about a year.The switch in the most recent one has failed like the others in less than 2 months.it will not slide well to change light colors...

I have had 20G Marineland tanks for 7 years, and had the same light bar. The version that same with my tank had problem with the ON/OFF switch within a year. I bought this to replace the old light bar, and I already notice a difference. It's bright, the on/off switch is better, and the cord is better with the plug in 3 feet from the light. The new light housing will stick up slightly from the lid, but it has notches where you can keep the light in place when lifting the lid. These are very pricey, but worth it. My aquarium plants love the LED's

I have a 35 gallon hex tank with lower light live plants and was looking for a replacement fixture. I had some disappointing results from some Coralife products, then I gave this light a try and I couldn't be happer.The pros: this fixture doesn't get warm (energy efficient), has a small footprint ideal for a little tank or hex aquarium, and both my plants and fish are happy. The con: the absolute production of light in lumens is lower than traditional fixtures. I addressed this issue in my tank by using two of these fixtures; compared with the price of similar noncrappy aquarium lights, this is still a great buy.Summary: if you have a small tank with no plants or lower light plants, this is a great buy. If you have a medium sized tank with the same, buy two of them. If you have a large aquarium and/or high light plants you are going to need to spend an order of magnitude more money than this.
