This turned out to be the worst electronics purchase I've ever made. First of all it doesn't sound better than any number of CD transports and DAC's you could buy for a fraction of the price. That really is the truth and I should have returned it for that reason. I was going through some interesting stuff at the time and felt like buying something extravagant I suppose. Then within the first year I started to notice some problems with the USB DAC like little clicks and stuttering here and there. I don't use it very often so I have been living with it I guess. I did contact Marantz about this issue but they offered very little help. Does it need service? Is it just a bug etc, etc? Now recently I found a great deal on the Model 30 amp and I was curious to see how the matching pair would sound so I bought it. The amp is not great to be honest. Overly granular treble, analytical and just plain dull. It sounds downright unnatural at times. I have an NAD C388 as my current amp. It drives my 6 ohm speakers much better and the NAD just sounds better in general. Then just two days after I bought the Model 30 amp the SACD30n started randomly jumping to a different track during playback both with CD's and SACD's. So I contacted Marantz and they were of no help at all even when they know that I just bought the amp and the SACD30N is just past the warranty period. Actually, they did give me permission to take my property to any electronics shop of my choice at my expense because the unit is out of warranty. To make a long story short the amp went back already and I will see what happens with the repair on the SACD30N. It will be fixed and sold or sold for parts/repair. It's time for me to move on to something else and I will personally never purchase another Marantz or Denon product. I can't stand the SACD30N and I hate the barely functional HEOS app as well. I honestly can't wait to delete it from my phone and be done with this thing.

This is my 3rd Marantz products and horrible experience for the 1st time. The system has initial problem when used as a upnp rendering device, using for example foobar2000 from win10. It only worked the 1st time before the system did a firmware update, after that, music becomes huge white noise. Then later found some digital music in usb drive cannot be played, even they are supported format and can be played by other digital players.Worse, after 5 months of occasional uses, the system starts to hang during playing and the control app lost the connection to the device, had to cycle the power from time to time. Finally, it stopped working a week ago, only 6 months after purchasing. After multiple calls with supports and days waiting, I was told I will have to send the system back to the Marantz service center to chceck, at my own trouble and cost! Very disappointed.

Caveat Emptor! If you, like I, are among a very specific subset of victims of technological obsolescence — those with a significant collection of multi-channel SACD disks — this machine will NOT fill your needs! I ordered it carelessly, assuming that if it supported SACD, it naturally supported multi-channel. In fact, since the demise of OPPO, there are really NO remaining SACD players with discrete multi-channel outputs AND you have to go pretty high end (McIntosh) to find a player that supports SACD with HDMI output. I've rated this product 5 stars even though I returned it to Amazon unopened. It deserves the benefit of the doubt for those whose needs it fulfills.

very well made, actually it is a big player, easy to use as well. The only complain so far is it seems the CD read and exit is a bit too slow, but you can definitely tell it is a quality made CD player. The sound is great, I can hear the difference with my previous 300usd onkyo player. I also like the feature of air play, NAS play, you can operate on your phone and it is fast when play or read any music datas( much faster than the CD function). I pair this with my Yamaha AS1200, very happy with the purchase. I paid 2599 for this player and now price is 2999. I am thinking of buy the paring amp if the price is right.

Well built and great sounding unit. The only thing I don’t like is the HEOS app compared to other options out there. I stream from Amazon music HD and the app integration is very primitive and does not allow you to access your own playlists. Of course you can stream directly from the Amazon app over Bluetooth but that is not the best sound option. The CD player is very good, but the optical unit that reads the CD is loud. Listening at low volumes I can hear the CD player from my listening position. This is a little annoying. Sound quality is as you would expect at this price point. I haven’t played SACD discs, but everything else sounds amazing. Overall, a great product that I can highly recommend.

I am 65 and totally devoted to the CD. My collection numbers 3000 plus. I have 2 fairly high end players, Cambridge and Onkyo ($1500 each). I decided to take it up a few notches with the Marantz. The player is made in Japan and each player is fine tuned before sale. If this makes any sense, it is like the music is coming from a dead quiet black hole. Totally noiseless background and a soundstage, clarity and warmth most people would not expect from a redbook CD. Folks, I am getting up at 2 AM to listen to music on the Marantz!I don't like long reviews, so I will end with a very high recommendation, if you still love the shiny disc.
