I now have three of these clamps and they work well holding my Canon Vixia HR500 camcorders. I mount these clamps to nine foot speaker stands to position my cameras high above the crowd

I love these things. You're only limited by your imagination in thinking up things to use them for. I use mine mainly for clamping cameras to things when I don't feel like carrying a tripod, but I've also used them to clamp 1 or 2 additional cameras to tripod legs when I want to shoot with different formats and different lenses. I can keep shooting with multiple cameras without having to disturb anything. Use the reversible stud to attach a tripod head to the clamp first, or flip the stud over to the 1/4-20 end and attach the camera directly to the clamp itself. If I need extra reach, I attach the heavy duty flex arm. They're seriously well made. I never leave home without at least one Super Clamp with me.

I bought the Manfrotto 2909 Super Clamp to mount a DSLR, LED light, Speedlite, etc., in places tripods and light stands dare not tread. Fitted with a ball head, it takes my EOS 6D without flinching and grips onto almost anything. Unlike spring clamps, it holds onto round tripod legs and light stands like a champ. I'm surprised how much weight it can handle. The included reversible 037 Short Stud has a 3/8” screw for tripod heads and a 1/4" screw flip side for cold shoes. The stud fits into a socket and is secured with a double lock system: spring loaded lock pin and a twist knob. If you forget to torque the knob, it's a little loose but will not fall out unless the release pin is pressed. The stud is hexagonal and won’t rotate. Stud length is such that the ball head sits flush with the clamp surface. My fits perfectly on the Super Clamp. If you mainly wish to mount a light head or umbrella bracket with the 5/8” female mount, buy the . It’s basically the same as the short stud but sticks out enough to attach a studio light. You can also use a to extend the 037 Short Stud, albeit not as elegant a solution as a large single piece stud (turns too easily when adjusting light angles). My favorite accessory is the : 6.5 inches of additional clearance between the clamp and light head, making use of light modifiers like softboxes easier. The Super Clamps's jumbo size and heft make it ideal for big jobs. If you needs are light duty, the or are more travel friendly. I own them all and, while the Super Clamp stays in my studio, it's my favorite and most frequently used clamp. I wouldn’t mind owning a couple more…

Too heavy to carry on my backpack, but strong. It holds 15kgrs (7 pounds). It was designed for big professional lights. Even that it works great for my camera.

I'm using this to attach a filter to my table, and it works well. I like how there is an adapter that makes it attach to a pole. I used it with this flex arm on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009R6AY and this clamp: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RTWBG0

This clamp is a nice alternative to using a tripod. When a tripod is simply too cumbersome to carry, this clamp provides excellent versatility when combined with a nice ball head. Just connect the tripod ball head to the clamp using the adapter, and you'll have a perfect mount for your camera. I specifically bought this for a sailing trip, and found it very useful for mounting on a stainless steel rail or stanchion. I've also used it on a picnic bench, railing on a staircase, a branch, the back of a chair, and even a door. The clamp is VERY sturdy, very high quality, and can securely hold a camera or other equipment without any worries. I use a Canon DSLR with a big Canon USM 24-70 lens and this product holds the weight just fine. This is exactly the kind of quality you can expect from Manfrotto. This adds lots of versatility in a small package. Another must-have in any photographer's camera bag.Helpful hint: I purchased an extra ball head to use exclusively with this clamp, the , and it pairs up perfectly in weight and balance, and allows me to leave my regular ball head mounted on the tripod.Update: I noticed another reviewer said their clamp didn't come with the the stud, but mine certainly did. His seems to be unfortunately missing, but it DOES come with one.

Super clamps are great for audio, video, you name it. Of course you can't throw these onto just any rig, they are very versatile and portable for lighter equipment. Combined with a ball clamp, you're talking about tons of possibilities. Manfrotto should be making dslr rigs with these things.
