This was an awesome devise that let two old people load their kayaks to the top of the car with little effort.If you have kayaks that you want to carry on the top of your vehicle, get the Malone system and be happy!

The loaded is only for Malone kayak racks, but it really makes the job of loading it on our Tucson a breeze. We have 2 Old Town Camden 120 kayaks, I can easily load the kayaks onto our Tucson using the lift, though it is easier for two people to set it on the lift system. We have gotten several comments from people when they see how easy it is...

I got this load assist so that I would not drop the kayak on my head or shear off a mirror while attempting to lift the boat. So far, so good. The feet slip a bit on concrete- I may epoxy some thick rubber to the bottoms to keep the load assist legs parallel. It does not lift as easily as in the video, at least not for a 50 lb kayak. You still have some weight to manage. Still, it was easy enough for this 68 y.o. woman to do. Note that the J racks required stand more vertically than many, making it slightly more difficult to get the kayak into them.

I purchased these to help load our Perception Tribes onto a 2018 Rav 4. It does help with the over the head lifting to some extent, but for $350, I expected more. The docking of the poles are flimsy. They will move on you. I am lucky that my daughter and I, take turns on each side to get the kayak to pull up. I don’t think I could get the kayaks off the racks by myself to the loader. You have to actually lift the kayak up as you lift on the loader or it jams. Getting the kayaks out of the racks onto the loader has caused a bruised wrist and smashed finger. I am not returning the loader because it has provided some ease in loading and somewhat more manageable, with less energy exerted. It is far from five stars. Thule hullavator looks amazing. Theses are ...okay. I don’t know if I would buy again. We really had struggled to get the kayaks up before, with needed rest breaks each time we did load kayaks. These do make it easier. The loader helped with some of the weight lifting struggling. I am 48 and 5’7” my daughter 5’2”. Three stars.

The idea is solid, but there are definitely better ways to get a kayak on to a roof. The mechanism requires that you have a specific Malone roof rack system. The lifts can still scratch and dent your vehicle and they are not light or compact.

I got this item to help loading assist on a 70lb SOT kayak and this device actually made the loading process more difficult. First off, I did not trust this thing to protect my car, it is so flimsy and felt like the feet were going to kick out. The ratcheting system also did not help, it kept jamming up and I had to exert even more force to push the kayak up just one notch. This system may work better for a kayak that's much lighter, like a 50lb sit in, but this system shouldn't be used for any larger kayak. The worst part? I got hit with a 50% restocking fee when I sent this item back. This item does not perform as advertised AT ALL.

I have a pair of Malone's older Telos Load Assist bars I have used for almost 10 years in the Boston area. They worked satisfactorily but these XL modules I ordered when we bought a second home on the Florida Gulf Coast are a HUGE improvement.I have been kayaking for many years, but my boats are not getting any lighter. With these XLs I can EASILY load my 60+ pound rotomolded kayaks quickly and without help. The XLs extend from roof to the ground and standoff at an angle from the car. That angle means the boats clear the car's side-view mirrors, and it is much easier to raise and lower the boats.I am a "mature" paddler, over 70 years old. Frankly it was getting harder for me to load and unload the boats alone. Not any longer!I was so delighted I ordered a second set for my car in Massachusetts.And recently I needed a replacement part. Product Support was OUTSTANDING.I could not be happier with my Malone products!

We LOVE these and very thankful we got them. We have a Pilot and I am only 5'4", it's a big struggle for me to get the heavy kayak over my head on tip-toes to get it in a J-Rack. I get too unstable and it's awkward. That made me not want to go kayaking because the process of loading/unloading was too much. Now, I want to go anytime, anywhere. The Malone J-Racks w/ these loader-assist bars are the perfect solution. Can be a little "sticky" to slide them up and down, but if you lift the kayak up a bit as you slide, it works perfectly. (one side at a time). Five starts for sure!!!

I can easily load both our kayaks onto our racks on our minivan by myself. Once I get the kayak up to the top position on the load assist module I find a small portable 2 step stool makes it easier to push the kayak into the roof mounts. I'm only 5'6". The step stool also makes it easier to secure the retaining straps. The Telos XL is made of quality materials.
