My decades-old Porter-Cable bandsaw finally bit the dust, and parts are no longer available. Looked at Milwaukee and DeWalt, favoring the DeWalt for no other reason than the company is US based, even if most of their tools are not. Then it occurred to me that another company may actually make their own stuff: Makita. It was about the same price as all other Pro brands, but claimed to be made in Japan. It is. Says so right on the tool. Do you want a Toyota made in Japan, or a Chevy made in China? Predictably, the Makita runs smooth as glass and exudes quality. Pretty sure it will outlive me.

I am glad the case came with it. Gives me a clean place to set it(on top of the case) after I make my cut. I wish the light was brighter.Made in Japan not china. I should have bought it years ago.

Todays Cordless Tools (at least the good ones like this) are Heavens only gift to mankind during these otherwise evil, dark, and trying times. Its as if God is saying hey, cant help you on the big tickets items like climate change and the subsequent hurricanes and wildfires, but after I show my wrath for screwing up the eden I created for you, im going to send these along to make it a bit easier for you to FIX IT.

Total junk. I've used these daily for ten years in a industrial environment and they start to fall apart after the first cut.

Have several of these in the field. They are arguably the best portable band saw on the market. The rubber shoes will wear out after a while, but that's an easy item to replace. Have used dewalt and milwaukee porta bands and they're just terrible in comparison.
