About this item

  • Chassis Saver Antique Satin Black, 1 Quart MPC-UCP970-04

Chassis Saver™ is a high solids, VOC compliant, single component chassis paint and underbody coating specially formulated to permanently stop automotive and truck corrosion without the use of primers or topcoats. Chassis Saver’s unique "Rust Stopping" properties permit its application directly over tightly adhered rust after only marginal surface preparation using a wire brush and/or hand scraper to remove loose scale and rust particulate. Optimum results can be achieved by sandblasting a medium blast profile to surfaces. Chassis Saver bonds to blasted and rusty metal to form a rock hard yet flexible, glaze-like, non-porous finish that won’t crack, chip, flake or peel. It works by isolating metal from oxygen and moisture, and without these factors present. Chassis Saver cures by reacting with atmospheric moisture and its cured film resembles that of a catalyzed finish yet no hardeners or activators are used.

I'm looking for a rust protector that dries super fast, too. It needs to completely stop rust in its tracks, like 100% stopped. Anyone have a suggestion that really works? Something that won't keep me hanging around waiting for it to dry would be great. Let me know what you've had good luck with!

This is very good chassis paint, just as good as any other brand. Take necessary precautions to avoid getting on skin by using disposable gloves. I use the paint on my Jeeps.

This paint is better than POR15, I wasted money on their whole system and it wouldn’t even stick. Sanded it all down and bought chassis saver. Reduced with their reducer and sprayed with a cheap harbor freight gun, make sure to get a desiccant to get the moisture out of the compressor lines before spraying. Went on beautifully and the top coated it with POR 15 top coat for uv protection, that product wasn’t bad. Did this to freshen up a 20+ year old Toyota frame that had minimal surface rust. Good prep and a good in line drier for the compressor and you’re good to go.

2nd winter worked well the first winter held up. Dries out very fast. Ive taken to after the can is open pouring the remainder in a glass jar and filling very close to top and adding saran-wrap. Lasts much longer this way.

rock hard smooth finish, use a good quality brush, you must wear gloves, this stuff won't come off. If you get it on you, I found brake parts spray works, but you really don't want it on the skin. This is a must have for jeep frames and inner fenders. Way better than por. It's worth every penny.

This stuff adheres very well to sandblasted steel and everything else it touches. Wear gloves and clothes you can throw away because this stuff does not come off! It’s some serious stuff, when I opened it and began mixing it, it started slowly boiling for about 20 seconds. It takes a long time to dry and top coating it with enamel spray paint and rubberized undercoating works well. I’m confident I’ll never have to repaint my frame ever again.

I withheld one star because to my eye the finish is closer to gloss than satin -- I'll have to put a finish coat of something else over this to get the appearance I want. Otherwise, very good coverage and easy to apply -- one quart covered my sandblasted short bed truck frame. Haven't been on the road yet, but my impression is that the coating should stand up to most undercarriage environments.Undecided on using the second quart that I purchased for the axles, suspension and engine compartment -- want a softer (but not flat) matte type finish. I MAY use the chassis saver for its utility and apply a different top coat as on the frame. Extra paint and work is a bummer.
