totally worthless without a remote. It came unboxed, in a plain large envelope, I was surprised it was not broken. Buy one that comes with remote, ad was deceiving, it appeared it had a remote in the picture.

I knew what to expect from this converter box and it did not disappoint. When the TV signals started changing to digital prior to 2009 and we had to buy the box to still use our analog TVs, I still have an analog TV in my guest bedroom but the box went bad. It would not stay turned on, but the box is 12 or 13 years old. My only surprise about this box is the fact that after all these years, the seller is still asking over $40 plus shipping for the box. No lower price? I know there are no new analog TVs being built and probably no digital to analog boxes either.

After some time with excellent display, this unit developed no sound for channel 5 & channel 7 specifically between 5 and 7 pm everyday.I purchased a second unit during the good display time and the second unit has developed the same condition.No thanks!

The Magnavox digital converter does an excellent job switching analog signals to digital format. I am able to receive crystal clear signals and a wide range of channels using a simple color antenna. The Magnavox also includes additional features (electronic program guide; alternate channel; channel add/delete, etc.) that are a real plus. I tried other converters and returned them to the store. This one is for keeps.

Having this and a flat antenna saves paying satellite or cable company $200.00 or more in cost for services monthly. on just basic channels like local news channels, MeTv, This TV, Antenna TV, four OPB channels, Grit TV, ION channels, Retro, and GetTv. Channels keep getting added, I started with fourteen channels now up to twentytwo channels.

On indoor rabbit ears, I get 2 main channels (from between 20 and 60 miles away) with 2 sub-channels each; grand total, 6.Can't wait to see how many I pull in when I get an outdoor antenna.The picture quality on an old analog TV is remarkable.

Already had two of these that were purchased about five years ago and are still working, so decided to purchase one for our guest bedroom as we do not have cable. Plugged it in and it worked perfectly. Can pick up all the major local stations and their substations and pictures are clear. Receive about 35 stations total. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't have cable. Easy to attach and then just push the button to load the stations in your area.

First off, as noted in other reviews, this converter box is sparse in its feature set, and you may well wish to purchase a universal remote if you don't like the idea of having to keep the TV remote handy to control the volume, or if you don't like the smallish buttons on the remote.However, I do wish to point out that contrary to what some of the other reviews have claimed, it is possible to add channels not picked up during the autoscan. To do so you need to enter the frequency number instead of the virtual channel number if the two are different. For example, the television station WOLO identifies itself as channel 25, but the digital signal is being broadcast on channel 8, so you need to enter 8 to get it scan for the channel, and if it finds it, it will from then on know that it is virtual channel 25. One source for finding those frequency numbers is Wikipedia.It is also possible to delete channels, but not individual subchannels, which would be helpful for those who don't care about having multiple channels for the weather.
