I purchased the iView 3300STB ATSC Converter Box to bring life back to an older TV, and it has exceeded my expectations. The setup was straightforward, and the device worked perfectly out of the box.The picture quality is excellent, and the tuner is sensitive enough to pick up even weak over-the-air signals. One of my favorite features is the built-in recording function. The USB port allows me to record and watch my favorite shows at my convenience.

iView is a Junk Company which cannot be trusted. My Converter Box had a broken Power Button and Channel Button. This means it wasn't inspected in the Factory before being shipped out. The Mediasonic Brand is much better, and I recommend that instead.

Product does not find incoming channels from standard non encrypted cable signals. The old VCR and TV does recognize these signals. It was our intent with this product to use the recording function and replace the VCR. However, Doesnt work that way. The company help desk repeated what was already in the user manual. Absolutely no help.

I had an earlier model from the same company, it lasted 15 years until the remote conked out. The quality of the image is even better.

I use this converter box with my old CRT Magnavox tv. It is hooked up to my over-the-air indoor antenna (won't work without an antenna on an analog tv) & then out to my RF modulator. Works seamlessly & picture is quite clear. Was very easy to set-up. I get more channels with this hooked up to the antenna than my newer HDTV does with the indoor antenna alone. I have tried timer recording, using an external 2TB hard drive. Worked fine, recorded in mts format & was able to watch later on my computer too, as well as on the TV. The instruction manual is fairly detailed, although some of the features are kind of clunky to use with the remote provided & the firmware on the unit. The remote is not really that great, functions are not particularly intuitive. So far I've been able to figure out everything I've wanted or needed to do, even if it's taken multiple attempts or a little longer than I'd like. Others have noted the power cord isn't very long & I had the same issue, had to place the unit a little lower than is convenient, so I just need to remember to point the remote correctly! I really miss having an on-screen programming guide. The descriptions & info given for programming are pretty limited, but they are a function of what the channels themselves provide and not a fault of the unit itself. Most of the issues I have with this are similar that people have with this or other inexpensive units in the same price range, so I'm generally happy with this purchase. For the money, I think it's a good value & hopefully will hold up for some time.Updated 3/22/21: I installed the 02/21 firmware update provided at the manufacturer's website for this specific model. When I did, I lost all sound output from the unit. I belatedly saw that others had the same problem. I contacted iView & they promptly replied the next business day with a different firmware to install (appears to be a rollback for this model) & now the sound has returned. I noticed the firmware version I used, that they had listed for this model, appears to have been removed from their website in the meantime. Just wanted to supply the info, in case anyone else has had the issue & not yet contacted iView. Also, the unit doesn't correctly adjust for DST, which I noticed last weekend. To solve this, you just need to manually adjust the time zone for the unit to the GMT either one higher or lower than what you had been using, depending on whether it's spring or fall, to get the right hour on the unit (which still displays in 24 hr format unfortunately).

I would give the iView 3300STB converter box Zero stars, if possible. I've learned the hard way (through returns of faulty boxes by three different manufacturers) that the achilles heel of all these boxes is the software, which apparently originates (not joking) from the same vendor in China and is prone to glitches. BTW, note the high ratio of 1 star reviews for converter boxes, usually between 12 and 18 percent. This iView box was a disaster the moment I hooked it up. Picture quality was fine, but nothing else worked. The Menu screen that controls operating functions was partially blocked by an image of a rogue "Options" page, meaning I couldn't access most functions. After two days the Menu wouldn't come on at all when I hit that button on the remote. Also, a robot voice suddenly began echoing every command entered on the remote; i.e., if I wanted to watch CBS News livestream that voice would say "This is CBS News livestreaming, the fifth station out of 57 in your programming list". The instruction manual makes no mention of a voice activated feature. I have no idea where that voice is coming from and I can't shut it off. Likewise, the unit suddenly turned on Closed Captions by itself...and since the Menu doesn't work I can't shut off the captions. Oh...and when I try to change the order of my saved Favorite stations, the box shuts off completely. How this particular unit ever made it into the marketplace is beyond me. Clearly there's little if any quality control at iView. I'm returning this to Amazon and will try my luck with an "Amazon's Choice" converter box made by another company.

Not a bad unit for the cost. It does work but has some flaws. I purchased it for the Clear QAM capability. And that does work BUT the guide feature doesn't work and the date/time is not correct (I assume that is because the cable company I am using is not sending that in the signal). Missing the guide was not a big issue but not having a manual way to set the time was. I could not schedule a recording because every time I turned on the box the date changed. I switched to the over the air input and that seems to work better. The guide is working (only see one day but better than nothing) and I can schedule it to record and that does work (I wish they had a week day option instead of only daily weekly and once). The only issue I am having with it is ... when I play a recorded show and try to fast forward, after a few seconds the box hangs and nothing will work ... everything is frozen and I have to unplug and re-plug the box to reset it. I sent 2 questions to the company (the site claims to have a 24 hour response to questions) but never got an answer. So bottom line for the cost of the unit it will work but is not intuitive and cannot use it for all the advertised features.A follow up on this.. I worked with Shenny from Iview,, and on 07/13/2021 they did up with a new firmware version for this box,, and It corrected the Fast forward Issue and the recording schedule seems to be more stable than it did before. Bottom line for the cost of the unit it exceeds what I would expect .. works mostly like advertised and is usable.
