I was tearing apart my desk looking for a SSD to put into an old laptop, and all I had were NGFF SATA SSD chips. These adapters were a cheaper option than the usual Sabrent product that I've bought in the past. Figured I'd take a chance, just to see what I'd get.The drive adapters were shipped in a padded envelope, each adapter in a tiny cardboard box with a foam sleeve wrapping inside. The main part of the case is plastic, not metal. It came with a baggie containing a single hold-down screw for the SSD, plus seven tiny black screws for attaching the board to the plastic housing. There was also a tiny screwdriver included, so pretty much everything you'd need to get started. The threaded sleeve for the hold down screw was preinstalled in the 2280 length, but had some sort of plastic paint on it, which needed to be pierced with the screwdriver to get the screw started. The case screws are tiny and black, with no contrast vs the surface you're screwing it into. The seventh screw was nice to have, as the case requires six, and you WILL drop one. The screwdriver fits all the screws fairly well, but isn't magnetized, which made it harder to use. Using a magnetic driver from my normal kit made things go together much faster. From the little bit of testing I've done, there's no issues with drive performance. Everything seems at full speed, no issues in recognizing the drives in external cases, with a USB adapter, or even in a laptop. The only OS install I've done with this case was GhostBSD, so I've got no idea if Windows is going to be happy.

It seems hold the same speed with my m.2 SSD as it does when installed in an Asrock B450 Pro 4 second m.2 slot. That's an SSD only spot. Screws are tiny but once together it works as expected. Using it now in an Orico enclosure with usb 3.0. Same as with a regular SSD.

Does what it says. A SATA m.2 SSD will pop in and you can hook it up via SATA cables as you normally do instead of an m.2 slot. Didn't notice any slow downs as a result. Though there may be some for all I know. It still ran fast enough to feel like a SATA 3 - 6 Gb/s SSD

the item i received worked quite well. it now houses the boot drive for the refurbished open air pc i am using to type this review. open air pcs are not good for open air nvmes, hence the enclosure. i tested it for a week before installing the OS on [the drive housed in the item in question]. i would recommend and when needed i will buy another.
