Great durable rod and reel. Comes all ready to go. All you need to do is assemble, line it, tie the fly and fish. Decent quality flies, and a good hard case. Overall I’m extremely impressed. The company seems reputable with a respectable mission statement. If you’re looking for something that’s will work and catch fish on a budget, don’t hesitate to buy this setup. I’ll probably buy another just to have for a friend or family.

Surprised how well this thing casts, the reel is very smooth. Was looking for a cheap 3WT and this works perfectly. Nice kit with the case, flies and fly box. All you need to start catching fish, without breaking the bank.

I originally gave a negative review after receiving a reel of the wrong size. I ordered the Maxcatch Extreme 9' #6 fly rod with its companion 5/6 reel, but got the 3/4 reel instead. Make sure you check your shipment.Updated review: I received the a replacement very quickly. The package arrived in great shape, and best of all, I received the right reel this time. This is the first time I ordered a rod through Amazon and was a bit leery about damaged packaging. Not a problem here - the box came to my door without any damage. On top of that, the rod/reel and other items were safe inside a really sturdy case. I took a close look at the rod and found no issue. I like the dark green color. The rod is light and feels right in my hand and balances well with the reel it comes with. The reel makes a small sound as I crank it around, but otherwise it spins smoothly. It's made of metal (aluminum) yet light. I tested the drag - I can dial in the drag strength and think it will be more than sufficient for a 6-wt rod. I really like the case. It's sturdy and protective. I could probably fit another small spinning rod (probably a 2-piece 5') in this case. The starter set of flies is ok. You will eventually want to get your own anyway. The fly box is nice though, it fits nicely in the outside pocket of the case. The kit comes with the line tool and a lanyard - useful. And the hat is adjustable and actually fits my big head.I am looking forward to taking this rod to the water. I will continue to update the review after having used the Maxcatch combo for a few times.

Great beginner rod for small steams, creeks and rivers. Everything one needs to open up the box and start fishing

Great rod for a beginner not wanting to spend big bucks as you learn. The flies might be good for trout but no good for bass in lakes and canals (got some nice ones at Bass Pro Shop) The case is nice as is the snipping tool. Line is a bit stretchy but works well, as does the real. Hay is ugly as sin, lol.

***Update, I have received a replacement for the peace that was broken. So now I am satisfied with the order. The reel works pretty good. I caught a 4lb Hybrid bass in fast past water and it performed real well. The drag was working Good, and allowed me to check off one thing on my bucket list. ***About I just bought this rod combo and only used it once maybe twice. I have kept it in its case and only take it out when I want to use it. Well the third time I went out, I was bringing my line through the guides, not putting any pressure on the rod, and it snapped. Very disappointed with this.

3 wt rod and reel combo... Everything in this is quality, the reel is a lot nicer than expected for the price. Awesome drag and quiet. The rod is extremely stiff, I'll have to get used to it. Nice box with a gasket, my second Max catch box, for the price amazing boxes. Flies were decent quality with a good mix. I'll let you know what I think when I get it on the water. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the stiffness of the rod, It's tough to cast. I've been flying for almost 20 years, the 3 weight is not a beginner rod. If you are a beginner and got one cast slow.... It's better for stiff rods.Update.. After using this and practicing for a couple hours the line is junk. It has no weight to it and it's extremely difficult to cast. It piles up in a clump and won't roll over.

I have 4 fly setups that are much heavier and much more expensive for salt and bass. I wanted something light and cheap to leave in the truck to fish small ponds for bluegill and the occasional small large mouth on my way home from work. I figured what the heck, this combo costs 1/10th of my 7wt setup. I am honestly super impressed. I figured with the price I was going to get something super flimsy and low quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. Even the line is good. Rod has a nice fast action great finish surprisingly light, and although the reel isn’t the best looking, it does what it needs to do on a 3 wt, which is hold the line. The carry case seems to be made well, and the extra fly box and storage on the carry case makes keeping this setup under the seat of my truck a breeze. For bluegill and crappie this thing has taken the place of my TFO 5wt. Blue gill the size of your hand feels like fighting a 7lb bass on a bait caster. Oh and the free hat they threw in was a nice bonus as well. Thanks yall, I’ll spread the word to my buddies.

Really solid. Is it super light and responsive like more expensive gear I've used from Scott, Sage, Loomis, Fenwick and Orvis? Nope. Is it comparable to entry level rods from Cabelas and Reddington that cost more than it does? I think so.Here's the niche I think this outfit occupies: if you're new to fly fishing this is a great place to start. You might never need more than this outfit besides replacing worn leaders and adding tippet. The included flies aren't great but you can probably catch some fish with them and not need anything other than what comes in the package on your first outing. I use my own flies--I've been tying things that work for me for decades.Alternatively if you are more experienced and have kids or friends that are interested in trying fly fishing but you don't want to loan them a fancy stick or have them drop and bend the rim on a good reel before they tie your leader into wind knots... This is an inexpensive way to protect your other gear. The single action reel is very functional. The fly line is surprisingly good. The knot attaching that fly line to the tapered leader is a mess on mine. Plan to learn how to tie a nail knot if you don't already know. The zipper case is excellent.I'm really happy with the purchase.
