There are several things I like about this kickstand. Having said that, let me be clear about one thing: it is not rugged, and I fully expect it to break pretty soon, but that's okay. The good: the mounting bracket looks pretty sturdy, and I expect that it will last for a long time. The leg extension system works well, and is quite intuitive. Right now, this thing is supporting my moped wonderfully. The bad: there is no way that the plastic teeth on the leg extensions and the little pieces of spring steel wire that notch into them are going to hold up over time. The spring mechanism that swings the stand up and down does not operate under a whole lot of spring tension, and I expect that this will give out soon enough. The redemption: the metal legs that the plastic extensions slide onto are hollow, and will perfectly fit appropriate lengths of 3/8 inch mild steel rod inside of them, sliding telescopically as if they were made for it. When these plastic pieces of s*** break, I will simply replace them with set screw secured custom cut lengths of 3/8 inch steel rod, which is one of my favorite fabricating material that I always have on hand. I can also fabricate a pin system that will hold the stand up if the spring mechanism breaks.I suppose this is a sort of faint praise, but for me, the stand is great. If you use your bike a lot, however, and aren't into metal work as a hobby, you may be disappointed at the longevity of this item.

I purchased this kickstand for my Specialized Crosstrail which I use for bike packing. I had grown tired of always needing to search out a tree or a post against which to lean the fully loaded bike. A conventional one leg kickstand was out of the question since the associated lean to the side would insure that the loaded bike would fall over. This kickstand was the perfect solution as the double leg feature allows the bike to stay in a vertical orientation. Moreover, the independently adjustable legs (accomplished by pushing in a release button and sliding the leg in or out) accommodate uneven ground. The aluminum kickstand is well made and quite sturdy. It was easy to install without modification and does not interfere with operation of the Crosstrail when in the "up position." Several of my bike packing friends have expressed an interest in this stand due to its features and competitive pricing. Well done, Lumintrail. Five Stars!UPDATED REVIEW- I wanted to continue to like it, I really did. As one can see from the above review, I was impressed with the stand out of the box and on the bike. Unfortunately, the stand did not meet my expectations in practical use. I just returned from a 4 day bikepacking trip on the C&O Canal where wet and muddy conditions were encountered. Upon departure, the stand was as tight as I dared make it, however, during the course of the trip, the stand became loose, twisted and hung lower and lower. It appears that some type of compression washer disintegrated as the stand was repeated engaged. This could probably be fixed, however, the adjustable legs are no longer adjustable as they appear to be frozen in their sleeves. Moreover, unless the loaded bike was perfectly balanced, the stand was not stable enough to keep the bike from several ugly falls. Perhaps I expected more of the stand than it could deliver. If it is your intent to use the stand on an unloaded bike and in reasonably dry and clean conditions, then you will probably be happy with it. In my case, real life application has shown some shortcomings and I am searching for a better solution. THREE STARS AT BEST

This is an EXCELLENT product! I recommend it to anyone. It is well made and not unduly heavy. For more stability, a second more conventional kickstand should be added about a foot further back. One that is adjustable in length, and bolts to the strut leading the back hub.I have several baskets attached to my bike because I have not car, and use it for transportation and shopping, not just exercise. This kickstand provides a wonderful amount of stability, but not quite as much as I needed. So, I found and mounted a second more conventional kickstand further back; providing my bike with three points of support. I then shorten the left leg of this stand a bit, so that it leans to the left the right amount. This solution has worked wonderfully for me; with all of my baskets full of groceries, my bike has not once tipped over. And now, I can easily park the bike anywhere, without worry.ALSO FUNCTIONS AS A MAINTENANCE STAND: I was also delighted to find that this kickstand functions as a maintenance stand as well. By simply extending the legs and putting a little weight on the handlebars, I can get the back wheel off the ground in order to adjust the brakes and derailleur easily. And by doing just the opposite, I can get the front wheel off the ground as well. This is endlessly convenient.PROBLEMS: The first problem I had was easily resolved; when riding I found that the chain drags on the right leg of the kickstand, and makes a constant clicking noise. This was easily resolved by simply putting a small shim into the mechanism; so that the legs do rise so high when retracted. (I used layers of gorilla tape) Any handyman will find this very easy to do.The second problem I did not discover for many months, and this was also easily resolved. I was having problems with my back wheel dragging at time, and thought it was because the brakes were not properly adjusted. While in fact it was this kickstand rubbing against the right side of the rear tire, when retracted. This problem caused me endless frustration with the brakes, which were not out of adjustment, until I readjusted them! Once discovered, the problem was simple to fix. I simply have to knock the kickstand over to the right when I retract it. I did not notice this for many months, and felt very foolish when I finally figured it out.I do highly recommend this product. But be prepared to have to live with its small problems.
