This product arrived, clearly repackaged in a clear, plastic container, lacking the outer box, and any documentation, completely unlike LSI/Broadcom.Because I have a down system, and need to get it up and running, I went ahead and installed this card. Upon boot, I was prompted that the card had a pre-existing configuration on it. Clearly, then, this is not a new device. However, I continued with the process. I was prompted to import foreign configuration, which was not successful, and then prompted to load the configuration utility. When I selected to load the configuration utility, the system hung up.I have repeated this process several times, always with the same result. The card is used junk, and is going to be sent back to the seller. The photo shows the complete package, as received.

Definitely not new in box. Card had bad cache chips on it, and constantly caused bluescreens with IRQ_NOT_EQUAL. Put another 9260 in and worked fine. Returning this one.

My card is running a SUPER hot 112°C . I had stability issues, so I reached out to Broadcom. They put me on track with the heat issuesWARNING - if like a quiet system, you may have fans turn down when the system isn't busy - you can't do that with this card (at least not mine!) I have mine next the the video card, which would be terrific, if the card didn't shut down its fans when not gaming! The MegaRAID Storage Manager software for the card will show the temperature - it should be 80° or below. With a quiet 80mm fan blowing across the heat sink, it stays fine. Mine now goes from 64-72 degrees depending on the room temperature. I found that even when stressing the card the temperature doesn't rise more than a couple of degrees. You may have issues with configuration, depending on your motherboard. From page 49 of the user guide, it says that when you see:Copyright© LSI Corporation Press for WebBIOSYour keystrokes may not be detected!NOTE On systems that do not have the PS2 port, you must enable port 60/64emulation in the System BIOS to emulate USB as PS2. When thisoption is disabled on this system, WebBIOS does not work.My system actually HAS a PS2 port, but who even owns one now? Since I have the port, I guess I don't get the nifty BIOS setting to emulate one for this card. For me it wasted a lot of time figuring out why I couldn't get into the card's configuration menus. But there are other ways to configure the card via command line (storcli) or the management software. After getting the latest firmware, it is a great performer - just watch for that heat![Update 2020-12-31] I put this card in an MSI B550 Tomahawk motherboard which limits the slot to x4 operation, which supposedly will limit the bandwidth to 2GB/sec in and 2GB/sec out. I have only seen 1010 MB/s with a 4-drive RAID 5 array in an x8 slot, so you are unlikely to experience slowdowns because of the limited lanes.Surprisingly, I found that the MSI bios in UEFI mode let me configure the card right from the BIOS menu!

Had no problem installing this and hooking up 4 drives to one channel. The BIOS software is a bit old and wonky really but does the job and it was very fast initializing a 4 drive RAID 5 array.I really was nervous because the price on this listing is significantly lower than the ~$500 price I have seen for this card in most places. It arrived and appears to have been a brand new item in sealed OEM anti-static bag.

I bought 2 MegaRAID 9266-8i cards and both do not work. The motherboard will not post and locks up using either card. I've used 3Ware/LSI/Avago/Now Broadcom cards for over a decade and the first time I've had issues.I am going to keep working at this to make sure it's not my fault and something is different with this card that I don't know about, but should be as easy as putting the card into the PCI Express (tried x8 and x16) port of the Supermicro server motherboard and go from there, but it just locks up the computer at post and won't do anything if you let it sit for 20 minutes. I plug in a 9750-8i or a 9650-4i I have laying around and work just fine. I tried this on my desktop computer and won't work either. The 9750-8i boots on my basic $50 motherboard just fine so I think it's just these cards are not what they are as advertised.I took the gamble on buying these since they are way cheaper, but being OEM I'm used to that being cheaper than retail. The description is very generic and should have known not to try this. Hate getting burned, but I guess that's the way the internet is currently. No one cares about integrity anymore.I bought these for 2 client servers and didn't try to use them until after 2 months later so past the return policy.
