I can't get this thing running, because it came with a random cd with sewing machine software instead. I later found out that the company that made the chipset has been bought out a long time ago. This raid controller is based on abandoned architecture. I have not been able to find SATARAID5 for Linux yet.

2023-05-12After less than a weeks ownership, the port-0 plastic connector broke and left bits inside the sata cable leaving exposed wire connections on the board. As a quick fix I was able to reinsert the cable, broken plastic bits and all, back onto the exposed wires of the connector and it still works. But I will never be able to plug in a different cable into that port again. Why do they use such cheap plastic sata port connectors?Rating now 3 stars instead of 5...----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I was able to get older computers to use both IDE and SATA at the same time.To make the BIOS to boot the SATA first before the IDE, tell it to boot a "SCSI" device first.

Very easy to install, drivers worked great. It breathed new life into an old machine from 2001 running XP for a little while. However, with no real reason, ceased working about two and a half weeks after installing it. Tested it out in a few other machines to make sure I didn't have a failed PCI port all of a sudden, and it didn't work in any of the others.

Put it in, turned on computer and it installed itself with no errors in the device manager. plugged in my 2nd SSD and a new removable drive bay. Turned on computer and it fired right up with everything working great. I'm running Windows 10 on a Lenovo ThinkTank. I'm so happy I could dance on the roof, if I could get there!

I picked this product because the card architecture is the same as the card I'm currently using which means there is a good chance the drivers will be compatible for both old and new cards. However, the driver CD is infected with a Trojan virus (Trojan.Rincux.AW) and I'm seriously not impressed.I managed to get round the problem by copying the CD content to a location on my Hard Drive WITHOUT OPENING any files and then used BitDefender to disinfect the offending files i.e. delete them. Thankfully the RAR file containing the virus was not required during installation and works for my existing card. It doesn't mention compatibility for windows 10 but so far I've had no problems. My machine runs with Win 10 (64bit) if you're wondering. As for the card itself, it looks to be in good condition but I can't comment whether it works as I'm still using my old card. Basically I bought the card to hopefully replace the drivers on the CD that blew up in my machine a while backHad to give this 1 star due to the virus. What's the point in installing something that will harm your operating system and make it vulnerable to ID theft etc.

This product doesn't have many reviews, so here goes: It works! I am running windows xp home 64-bit on a dell dimension 4600, and this card was easy to physically install, connect sata cables to, and worked right away on start up. I was able to install the drivers from the mini disc, easy peasy. It was truly plug and play. So, to recap, if you have an ancient computer (ide motherboard w/ an available pci slot) and are using an outdated OS (like windows xp), then, this card will bring your retro machine one step closer to current.

Its a simple PCI card so installation should not be a issue. I was worried a bit at first when I installed this into my second machine, as I needed to configure my boot sequence. This does work perfectly and I am now using my hard drives in raid in only a short time. It did take some time to clone my current one, but that's a software thing vs the limiting capabilities of the card.

finding the correct drivers for win10 took some time and testing. program is pretty sparse in options. i did accomplish the goal of having additional sata ports for a raid 0 set up in a dell optiplex. transfer speeds are usb2 like, i suspect that is all that's supported on the pci slot. overall served my purpose of having a raid0 for data backup/expanded disc capacity.
