It's thin and not too sturdy, but I guess that's a compromise for lessening the weight. If taken care of, it should last a reasonably long time.

My son needed one for marching band, so I bought this. Unfortunately he only had it a few weeks and it broke. Cheaply made I feel. Don’t buy!

Works well with my sousaphone. I've never used a lyre before, but it works great!
