This dependable waterer provides a limitless supply of clean water for adult game birds and small chicken breeds. Everything you need is included to hook up to any standard half- inch NPT pipe. Heavy-duty plastic bowl with non-rusting brass fountain stem. Valve safely operates between 20 and 50 psi. Holds 2 pints of water and waters up to 175 birds. Bowl measures 6.5 inch in diameter and 2.5 inch deep. Little Giant Bowl Guard (Item 1018) to prevent roosting on the fount sold separately. So the water bowl does continue to fill once full. But it’s a very simple correction There is a Schrader valve just like the type in a bicycle tire or a car tire located at the bottom of the valve. It’s very loose after tightening it stop the bleeding by I have 85 PSI water pressure and now it works great.

I almost returned this, but finally found a friend that figured out the valve itself needed tightening otherwise, the water just free flowed. I googled the product help videos on youtube and none described what needed to be done to make it work. Thankfully it's no longer overflowing and working as intended, so I rate four stars based on the poor set up instructions.

So far so good on this watering bowl. We had been filling another waterer up and packing to the chicken pen. It was becoming a real pain. We bought this and made a watering system with plastic barrel. Now they have fresh water that automatically fills the bowl. It was extremely easy to hookup. Wish we would have done this months ago

i hesitated to purchase this because i read reviews that it doesn't always work but i really wanted to try because it seemed like the most practical waterer out there.sure enough, mine arrived but had a leak above the control tube cap on the stem assembly. i contacted Miller and they immediately sent me a replacement stem assembly. works like a charm and was worth the extra effort.

I had the smaller version for about 7 years. It worked great, with proper cleaning and routine maintenance on the water stem, my chickens always had water. I have about 30 chickens and it seemed to be sufficient for the flock. I have mine set up on a 50g barrel. The only reason I'm buying another is my goats got in my chicken pen and rammed it to pieces.

I've had this waterer before, and the last one worked great until it got older and started to leak from the nipple causing the water to continuously fill the bowl and flow over. Have tried everything to get it to stop with no luck. Can't figure out how to contact the manufacturer to ask their opinion on how to stop this.

I've been using this for many months now. It's an awesome product except for an issue I had and a few other reviewers...so be prepared. The quality of the base product is great. It takes a while to set up due to adjusting the internal adjustment nuts. This probably needs to be done no matter what due to different water pressure depending on your region. After a few days, I had issues with it getting stuck "off" and not filling. I readjusted and it worked for a day...then stuck off. After playing with it for a while, I discovered that the needle valve on the inside end was sticking. Manually, it didn't, but when released slowly (as in when water filling) it would stick. Thankfully, I have the correct tool to remove the needle valve core (same as car or bike fill valve). I replaced it with a one a spare car wheel I had sitting in my garage. It's been about 3 months since and no issues. Looking at the original valve, it is cheep. When pushing it in/out the needle doesn't stay centered and probably is dragging on the side when installed.

This is the second one I've bought. I didn't realize that my first one is larger than this one (I bought the first one at a farm supply store). It seems small, but it's perfectly fine for my 35+ chickens. Packaging claims 150 chickens would be fine on it. The larger version simply allows you to go longer before cleaning it since there is more room in the bottom for junk to settle (and claims ok for about 250 chickens). I imagine it's just the dirt from their beaks that washes off and settles. I let this one go for weeks between cleanings though. It super simple to disconnect and rinse out. This definitely beats filling and hauling other types of waterers every day or two. I bought this second one when the first one wouldn't shut off (it's a couple years old), but I think it was just the valve stem being loose. I don't mind having a back-up and a couple sizes to play with though. I plumbed these with 1/2 inch pvc pipe - connected to a garden hose with a pressure regulator outside the coop. Since I'm in an area that freezes in the winter, I only use them about 8 months of the year. I've thought about winterizing the whole system, but keep in mind you would have to heat the incoming pvc pipe (electrically I suppose) and even then if it was really cold the brass auto valve might freeze. I have other types of heated waterers for really cold weather, although I have to haul water to them. Perhaps a heated chicken coop with indoor water would be the only way around this freezing problem.
