Overall good but there are definite drawbacks. I'm not a fan of people who complain but here's the real deal... Because we have it setup to a router, the IP code in the manual is useless, but they don't tell you that. You have to call tech support to know that. Once we Finally got it up & running, it performed fine for 6 months. Then when cleaning behind it we knocked out the power cord and once we plugged it back in it got stuck boot mode forever. Called business tech support but got their away message even during on hours, okay. Finally got through & spent a collective 2.5 hours of rebooting, resetting & remote troubleshooting until I finally got them to replace it - happy about this. Even after they approved it they connected me to customer service for another 20 minutes with 2 addl 5-10 min holds. Even if the plug in caused a surge ?? It shouldn't be that weak of a product. Mailed it back today, fingers crossed on the new replacement.

An I.T. friend recommended this product to me. I was using a router as a repeater connected to Xfinity router and the signal and wireless has been spotty. The router was a very expensive one and I thought it would give me adequate coverage acting as an extender. It did not and I had wireless crashes and spotty signal strength.I plugged this in and am using the power cord instead of the POE function. Once I realized that my IP Address Range is different from the default on this unit which is 192... (by checking Xfinity login), I was able to login to the setup of this Linksys and make it a static IP + change the SSID to match the one I am using with the appropriate password. If I were to take a star away it would be for directions but I'm technical enough to figure it out. There are only a couple of videos online but they can be helpful as well. I also updated the firmware from the Linksys site and had to do two upgrades because I'm in the U.S. That really wasn't an issue. Two straight forward downloads and it updated the WAP to the latest firmware. It's been operating for several days now. Here's the summary:1. The signal strength is AMAZING in all parts of the home and outside in the yard.2. I have full signal bars on all devices all of the time.3. There have been no drops and it works well with XFinity.4. After initial configuration, it's really just set it and forget it.5. I'll just repeat #1 - you won't even believe how good the coverage is with this WAP. Highly Recommend!Note: The unit is much bigger than what is shown in the picture. Perhaps that helps the coverage. Check the specs.Tip: You need to have your desktop or laptop connected to your network via cable (not wireless) to configure your WAP. That's a small but important point in the directions. The firmware update mentioned above also requires a hard wired connection as well.I'm recommending this to all my friends (minus the neighbors) with wireless issues.

This access point is very easy to setup and configure. I quickly got this working with several different SSIDs, with different visibilities. After a few days of use, this AP is still working great. You will need to know how to force the internet address on your PC in order to initially configure the AP. That is the most difficult step in setting up.I quickly ran into a problem where I could not get to the web configuration interface for the IP. This is because, by default, you cannot access the AP's internal web pages if you are using one of the AP's SSIDS as your method of attaching to the network. There is a setting in the AP to enable the ability to configure it over a WiFi connection. Alternately, you can just access the AP by using a network interface that is not from this AP itself, like a wired ethernet connection of a wireless connection that is through a different piece of hardware on the same network. *** Linksys, you should point this out in your documentation up front to spare your customers some frustration. ***In summary, I recommend this AP highly. It's easy to set up and works well. There is one potential pitfall that I've noted here so you won't encounter it.
