A new generation of walking axe. GZERO a very light ice axe for classical alpinism that still has all the characteristics of a Grivel ice axe including, head that provides maximum strength and minimal weight. The pick is classically neutral with ergonomic design that remains comfortable after hours of climbing. The brand insulating removable ergonomic blade cover lets the user firmly grip the axe by the head without risk of injury. It also protects the hand from contact with cold metal especially in low temperatures and high altitudes expeditions. The perfect tool to discover the mountains with added safety and comfort.

I have used this axe all over the PNW, from Rainier to the North Cascades, and it's a great. Very light and nice l balance. I have a Black Diamond Venom, but honestly I generally go back to this Grivel axe for soft, snowy climbs. I'm 5'9 and have the 66cm and it's perfect, but the 74 would be fine too. I recommend this axe for classic mountaineering.

Decent ice axe. Feels a little flimsy. Good as a stabilizer though on glacier/permasnow

Took this on a summit climb up Mt. Algonquin and it did the job nicely. Helped me motor through some ice sections and some areas that were steep with very little traction.

Recently used this on a winter hiking trip to Mt Washington, NH. practiced arresting with it and held up like it should. Great to have for the vertical ice and steep inclines. Don't leave home without it!

It does what it's supposed to. My only complaint is the strap. You cannot adjust the diameter of the wrist loop which causes it to slip off very easily and that renders the strap almost completely pointless. You might as well not have the strap at all because it actually slips off and gets in your way.
