very nice lantern. this is also the biggest lantern I have ever purchased. I use parrafin oil as it burns much cleaner, doesn't smoke up the glass. Even though they are now made in china, seems to be very well made. its a nice option if the power goes out and you can't locate or recharge batteries.

This lantern is easy to use, pretty bright, made of some high quality metal, performs well above standard, is pretty safe to use and a good value for the money.I put this lantern in the middle of my living room and it lit up the whole space. I mean, when I say performance was by far better than what I expected you have got to believe I am not fibbing.I think about now and smile wide at how well this lantern worked. I did a good thing in getting it.

I mostly have led items but seeing this I.really wanted to order as it reminded me of camping with my dad growing up. Lighting this lantern and adjusting the brightness just brings back memories. It works great and the quality is great. It is built well and sturdy and with quality parts. Can’t beat for the price. I highly recommend

This is a big lantern with a big oil reservoir. It should stay lit a long, long time.Easy to use if you know how to use a hurricane lantern, and gives the expected amount of light. Feels solid and well made.

I had a similar lantern like this when I was a kid. That lantern is long gone but my memory of it is still vivid today. I saw this one and thought it would be cool to have one again. The lantern is a beautiful piece of work and I love this color. I fueled mine with a kerosene alternative made for kerosene heaters and lamps from Lowe's. After giving the wick a couple of hours to soak, I lit it. It lights easy but it is best lit with a kitchen match or a long neck lighter because you have to reach under the globe to get to the wick. With the globe back down and after the lamp warms up a few minutes, it makes a beautiful fan shaped flame. You turn it up quite a bit without any smoke. The instructions say that with full fuel, it can burn up to 75 hours. That works out to just over 1 oz of fuel per hour. The light produced is similar to candle light but it makes a lot more light than a single candle. The manufacturer says it makes 12-14 candle power of light. Whether you buy it for ambiance (which is great with this lantern) or practical emergency use, either way this lantern delivers.

There is something about images on Amazon web pages that always fail to communicate the true size of objects. Particularly where things like jewelry are concerned, the physical item that shows up in your mailbox is often a fraction of the size you mentally pictured it to be. But every once in a while, the tables are turned and... well... take this oil lantern sold by the musically-named LIGHT OF MINE "LET IT SHINE" store, for example.I fancy oil lanterns, I own more than a few, and when I saw this Dietz #2500 available on Vine, I snapped it up. R.E. Dietz is a legendary lantern manufacturer with roots that go back to 1841.I was shocked when the box arrived. The model #2500 “Jupiter” lantern model is HUGE. I’d swear the tank would hold a half-gallon of fuel! The wick is a large 7/8-inch ribbon, and the seller helpfully includes a half-dozen spare wicks. The thing is bright, but it also throws a fair amount of heat, as well. While Dietz is an iconic brand name, and the lantern I received is covered with Dietz logos (embossed in the metal, etched in the globe... even plastered a holographic sticker) a less evident sticker on the bottom of the tank clearly identifies this as yet another of a zillion products made in China. A bit of research indicates that Dietz lanterns haven’t been produced in the U.S. since the early 1990’s.And therein lies my one criticism. At $60 bucks, this is not a cheap lantern. I may not mind paying extra for a recognizable brand name with a good reputation, particularly if it is produced domestically. It’s much harder to justify paying $60 bucks for a Chinese-made lantern when there are other Chinese-made offerings (of seemingly similar design) available for substantially less.Is this a nice lantern? Yes, I think so. Do I like it? Definitely. But is this price-point justifiable? Meh... I’m less sure about that.

This is an oil lantern made by Dietz. This is a very large Lantern, yet it is lightweight. It comes with one Wick already installed in the Lantern and several extra wicks to help you get started. The oil tank holds a huge amount of oil, the globe has the proper caging around it, with the chimney is vented and there is a large loop handle at top. I got this Lantern because all of my other ones were very small and fragile. I like how this one is large and rugged. This is the Jupiter 2500 model of Dietz lantern. This Lantern is made in the old fashioned style, and would serve well in an emergency. It is also quite attractive and would look very nice hanging up as a statement piece. For us, this Lantern will be used for extended power outages because of the extra large fuel tank. We are using smokeless lamp oil, but you can use citronella oil as well if you like. This is an excellent oil Lantern!

The "Light of Mine | Dietz #2500 Jupiter Oil Burning Lantern| Kerosene Oil Lamp" is a beautiful lantern.I got the blue version and I have to say that I love it. It is so nice and great quality that I almost didn't want to put kerosene in it and use it. It definitely can just be used as a decoration if that is what you want as it gives an old fashioned look to any room. It functions and works well and gives out a fair amount of light (for a kerosene lamp).I got this to replace a smaller kerosene lamp that I had that broke and this lamp is far superior. I like to use this type of lantern when camping as I like the more natural light that it gives verses the harsh light from LED lanterns when out in the woods. It is great as I can use it for camping, but it also makes a great emergency lantern should it be needed at home.
