We bought this tetherball stand for my son for Christmas of 2013. My son played this at school and really, really wanted one for our house. My son totally scammed us. He played with this exactly two times when it was brand new and then after that, it just became a fun obstacle to mow around every week.It took me a while but I am finally at the point that I am giving up on my son using this so we are giving it away to a friend. After six years it seems to be holding up very well I think. It has never been in the shade or covered from the elements. It has been exposed to extreme summer heat and sun, a ton of rain, and a very minimal amount of cold, ice, and snow. Yet the tetherball stand still stands. We only used water to hold ours down and never had an issue with that. Grass grew around it and interestingly enough, grass even started growing on top of the base from the grass clippings that landed on it after mowing around it.The rope connecting the ball to the stand still seems to be strong and useable. The pole is straight and upright. The ball is still there but definitely showing the most age. I’m guessing if you add some air to it that it will still have a little life left in it but even if it needs to be replaced, it looks like you can get really good ones on this website for around $20.00 which is still well under the $100.00 price that we paid for this complete set. Unfortunately, when I was trying to look for replacement balls on this website, I wasn’t able to find any for this same brand so that was kind of a bummer. Although I found some highly rated ones that have nice and bright colors.I’m enclosing a couple of pictures of how our tetherball stand currently looks, without any cleaning, and after just popping open the holes to drain the water . I’m including a picture of the tetherball in its current, aged state.Would I buy this again? Well, I absolutely would not because my kid scammed me the first time and “scam me once, shame on you, scam me twice, shame on me”. However, I would definitely recommend this exact same tetherball set to anyone I knew that was in the market for one because I can’t complain that after six years of being outside, this is still in excellent condition and able to be passed over to a friend for her kids to get use out of it. Definitely a good product overall I think.

This tetherball game is awesome! I bought it for my grandchildren as they recently bought a place out in the country with a huge yard. They love it. I have played it many times with my grandson when I visit them. He also plays with other family members. We play on it for long periods of time and have lots of fun. It is sturdy and stands up to all the ball hitting involved in playing the game. I would highly recommend this tetherball game product. It is sturdy and durable and a lot of fun!

I bought this Tetherball game for my girls,10 and 13, and i never thought i'd play tetherball again in my life at 40, but we all enjoyed this game all day including myself!! I had so much fun re-connecting with my girls away from all phones, i-pads and I-pods for the first time in years. We have agreed on a weekly tournament for us to play and enjoy each other outside for a change!! The set was shipped out super fast, came nicely packaged safe and sound in Black color btw. Assembly was really easy, pole in three sections that you just tap with moderate force together, non reversable once assembled. 4 bolts to the base and the top cap inserts into top pole and expands with 1 bolt turned into pole. Then filled with water, inflated ball with included pump and needle, attach ball rope to top and ready to play!! When filled with water it doesnt come close to wobbling or tipping over. Can fill with sand also. Easily moved from driveway to side of the house even when base is filled by tipping over and rolling unit wherever you wish. Seems very sturdy and quality construction, the only problem we had is every kid on the block wanted to play!! Brings the school yard to the house. Love it!!

My kids love this tetherball! We filled our base with water not sand. That may have made the pole a bit wobbly - or maybe the screws weren't tightened well enough, I'm not sure. The ball is great - not too hard, but solid. I bought a trampoline too and they only wanted to play with this!

I have a small yard with a concrete slab, so I didn't want anything permanently installed. This product does exactly what it's supposed to do and is easy to move by just tilting it and rolling the base. I've only had it for 6 weeks but the ball is just fine so far, though the rope is fraying a bit. I detach the ball and store it inside which helps, but the rest is fine to keep outside. I was hoping this would be portable enough that I could throw it in the trunk to take it with me, however the pole is assembled with a friction fit (assemble three pieces and bang them on a 2x4). If the poll could be disassembled it would be much more portable. The pole does wobble slightly during play due to flex in the base (not the pole), but it's barely noticeable and doesn't affect play. Also the manual highly recommends filling it with sand instead of water as a small crack could cause water to leak out creating a safety hazard. This also reduces portability. I have water in mine for now but will fill it with sand once I get some time. I just check the level before my kids use it, so I don't see much of a hazard. When full it is still light enough to lift onto a furniture dolly and roll to my garage, but does take a little strength. Rolling it on the base is easy though.

Our local elementary school installed tetherball sets in their playground this year, and my oldest son (an 8 year old) loves to play the game. As there is often a group of kids at school waiting to play, he asked us for a tetherball set to play at home. Although this set isn't cheap, my boy doesn't get nearly enough exercise in my opinion, so I decided to buy this so he and his siblings can play. The set is made of sturdy components and the instructions are very clear, and in a welcome change from most instructions I've gotten lately, printed large enough so that it's easy to see how all of the components fit together. (The ball is itself is a little on the cheap side, but the set is designed so that you can replace easily replace the ball when it's time.) It took me about 30 minutes to put it together, but I probably could have done it in about half that time if I'd had someone helping me (the instructions say two people are needed, but you can do it by yourself if you're so inclined).Once assembled, I put water into the base (you can also use sand if you wish). Commercial grade tetherball sets are usually set into the ground, so I had concerns on how stable the pole would be with a base that just sits on top of the ground. I'm happy to say that while there is a tiny bit of wobble on very sharply hit balls, it's not noticeable and doesn't impact play. And using sand instead of water in the base might even reduce or eliminate that.My kids love it. My son had organized a "family tournament" for us the day after I assembled it. Note that this is not a commercial grade set like you'll find in a playground ... this is clearly marketed as a portable set ... but you easily get your money's worth out of it, and the pole and base should wear well. Five stars.
