About the Author
Linda Causee of San Diego, California, has been writing and editing quilting titles for more than 20 years, first with American School of Needlework (ASN Publishing) and then with Creative Partners. A coowner of Creative Partners, Rita Weiss of Escondido, California, is a widely acclaimed needlework author, designer, and teacher.

This 63 page book shows 110, colorful & creative 8-inch potholder designs that can also be used to create wall hangings, tablecloths and quilts. There is a color photo of each potholder and a detailed colored template. At the back of the book there are 4 pages of instructions on how to make a potholder followed by a page of templates used for the potholders. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I don't like working with templates. It takes extra time to create the templates, draw them on to the material, and cut out with scissors. I prefer working with a rotary cutter and a self healing mat.

I took this book and some old jeans and did pattern out of it. And made it into placemats. It was fun. Easy to use and do. The only part that was hard was sewing the jeans. But when I went to fabric. It was so easy and good. Patterns are easy to understand and work up.

I bought this book to get some ideas for small quilting projects to practice my quilting skills. There are many cute ideas and you can combine or expand several blocks to make table runners or placemats. Instructions are good, complete with templates, and there is a wide variety of ideas. I like to use precut fabrics such as charm packs and it's easy to use them here. It has helped me sharpen my skills.
