My step-daughter has a tortitude cat who lives up to her reputation with a history of attacking ankles and legs of whoever is in the vicinity whenever the cat feels like it. My wife would often come home from visiting her step-daughter with a series of scratches on her legs. The cat doesn't spare my wife's daughter's legs either. Now whenever my wife and I go over to visit, we wrap these leg gaiters around our legs and said cat seems to have quit using our legs as scratching posts as it isn't as much fun since she can no longer draw blood. Maybe the cat is part vampire, who knows. For the intended purpose, these gaiters work quite well.

These are well made gaiters that will protect your legs from snakes, prickers, or barbed wire. I found they wear better over jeans then bare legs or leggings. As a 5'6" woman, they are a bit long for my lower legs however they break in pretty easy so after a few uses they are better bending at the base of my knees. I have yet to test them on a snake bite (thankfully), however walking through prickers and getting snagged on a barbed wire hiding in the brush, I felt nothing other than a small tug on the gaiter. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5, it's advertised for my height, however they are too long and require the bulk of my jeans to wear comfortably as they rub somewhat painfully on bare skin. I do recommend them though for their intended use.

It's been so hot this summer that hubby did lots outside work in shorts. Sometimes one job would lead to another, and these jobs didn't lead to wardrobe changes :) So, getting these Leg Gaiters was the perfect answer. These did provide a certain amount of protection, yet weren't too hot or uncomfortable. They were easy to put on and off, so grabbing these and putting them on didn't hold up progress. They are well made, easy to secure, and they stayed put. These were good for use with the brush mower too.

These Gaiters may have a use in the field but not as a Snake Gaiter. Pros. The protective material the gaiters are made from would protect the wearer from scratches or possibly a prick from a large thorn cactus or a spiny bush, but I would not guarantee it. The outer layer of material seems to do a good job of not picking up hitchhikers like burs. Although the outer layer is not waterproof the inner layer seems to be waterproof and does a good job of keeping water away from the wearer. CONS: These will not protect the wearer from snake bites. I was able to easily penetrate the gaiter with a large thick sewing needle. See Photo. Much larger than the fang of a Rattlesnake. A smaller needle would have penetrated much easier. I was surprised just how easy it was to penetrate the gaiter. Even a small rattlesnake could bite through this gaiter. If you want a inexpensive gaiter to protect you from scrapes and scratches this would do. But for a few dollars more I would recommend buying an actual snake gaiter that would do both and offer a higher degree of Snake Bite protection. I would give caution to the possible liability being created advertising these as a snake gaiter for snake bite protection as based on the advertisement the wearer would have been misled into believing that the gaiter would actually protect them from a snake bite. If you can easily push a large needle through the material the snake gaiter is made of. It is not a snake gaiter that offers snake bite protection. If a snake can bite through a thick leather boot. It takes more than a couple layers of cloth to be called a Snake Gaiter. Do Not Recommend

Simple and easy. What more could you want. First time using them . Took a hit from a timber rattler and suffered nothing from the bite. Never penetrated the gators.
