Slowly I have been adding to my collection of logging chains and accessories. These work well with what I have and are very strong and rugged. Glad to have these.

This review is for "Leero 3/8" Logging Chain Choker Hook, 2-Pack G80 Logging Choker Chain,Metal Logging Neck Choke Hooks, 6,900 Lbs(3.15 Ton) WLL for Logging Chain with Choker Hook, Logging Forests", by Leero. I did not see an item number, but it's ASIN B0DL9ZHJ48. Title and ASIN are included in the review because sometimes reviews get re-sorted and are no longer associated with the correct product. The Leero Choker Hooks shipped quickly and were packaged reasonably in a cardboard box. Within the cardboard shipping box, the hooks arrived individually sealed in translucent plastic, and within the sealed plastic each hook kit was in a recloseable clear plastic bag, with 1-1/8in cotter pin and set pin in a smaller recloseable clear plastic bag. The Hook is molded with the WLL limit on one side (3.15T) as pictured in the Amazon listing. The hook has no writing on the back side. The Amazon listing indicates that the hook is G80, but the hook bears no G80 label. The hook is labeled "10-8" which I suspect is an indication of size.I typically use 5/16in G80 chain for logging, along with a clevis pear link for choking a load. The pear works well, but it's a hassle to cinch and remove. With a Leero choker hook I should be able to release a load by un-slotting the chain, which will be much easier. I knew that these 3/8in Choker Hooks wouldn't be an exact match for the 5/16 chain and I figured I might need to make an adjustment to make these work. Sure enough, the 5/16in chain fits in to the hook's slot, but the pin is just a bit too wide to fit through a 5/16in link. I considered grinding the pin or inside of the link to make a fit, but either way I'd be weakening a part, which I'm not a fan of. I settled on using a 5/16in hammerlock chain connector link (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDPTLR96). With the hammerlock I was able to connect the Leero 3/8in Choker hook cleanly to the 5/16in logging chain. Works great!

I made up a choker with a piece of 3/8" chain. It fits and works well. I like it much better than using a grab or slip hook for lifting logs. I liked them so much I ordered some for 5/16' chain.

These are really very nice and heavy duty. I use them for dragging logs and brush and they work really well. Without these I would have to pull the chain as tight as I could and hook it onto itself, but it was almost never tight enough to securely hold the brush pile together while pulling it. This allows the chain to slip through the choker hook and tighten up the chain as you're pulling.

I’ve been dragging logs around for 6 years using clevis hooks and they are finicky at best and just fall off at worst. These logging hooks are so much better and higher rated than clevis hooks. The pins were just a touch larger that my chain link but a little hammer tap put them right through. I like the roll pin method of securing the pin as there are no cotter pins to bend or break like my old ones did. The narrow chain channel means my chain won’t be falling out when slack anymore. I also get better use of my chain length since I don’t have to double back to cinch on the log. A minor point but it’s worth mentioning, I’m sure the paint will come off with repeated use but starting out it is a nice finish.

This is a set of strong logging chain chocker hooks. Combined with your 3/8" high grade chain, they're great for dragging logs or large brush piles out of the woods to improve fire safety. A choker on one end of the chain allows it to slip and pull tight, cinching down on the load. Each hook includes a pin when secured with the included locking roll pin,is inset within the chocker hook. No more cotter pins getting snagged and ripped off.

These slip hooks have an opening just wide enough to slide a flat link through, once the chain is in the hook it would have a small chance of slipping out. The hooks are G80 rated and they have a 6900 pound working limit. They coated the hooks in a durable red finish to protect them from abrasion and the elements.
