These are recommended for walls but I installed them on the ground by a pathway. It gives a great lighting.

It took me a while to get these installed, mainly because where I needed them the railing is solid steel and I had to find screws that wouldn’t break off when screwing into the steel. Even with pilot holes I kept having trouble. I finally got screws that were tough enough not to break and the lights are perfect for the job. The lights are aluminum, kind of look like “bedroom eyes”… eyes half closed, but they do the job and look good. The wire that comes on them is long enough to hang down to main power line without pulling the main line up off the ground - up four steps high anyway. Installation was easy, just connect to existing low voltage power. Hopefully you will be screwing into wood not steel like I had to. The steps I put these lights on were always dark at night, no matter what other lights I had on, so the liability of someone falling has always been on my mind. There’s not a price I can put on making my home safe so these lights are worth more in value than I can express, preventing injury ever for sure.

A yard light lover for 30-years plus, I’ve come to know them pretty well. It’s important to understand the color temperature scale. Lower numbers provide warmer-yellow light, while high numbers shine brighter white. Know that each bulb is measured in watts. Buy a watt-adequate transformer (and more for when you add another light) to power the total number of watts your lights add-up to. Purchase enough length of 16-2, 14-2 or 12-2 landscape wire (depending on the total length of your yard wire, 12-2 for 150+ feet of wire, 16-2 for short runs). Lay out your wire in your yard (leave some extra wiggles in your line for future movement) and attach your light fixtures. Wire connectors are important. Pictured here are my favorite connectors, along with a tool or two you may need when installing. Some lights provide plastic stakes (no big deal since they’re in the ground) while other lights deliver metal stakes. Some lights provide a longer lead wire (wire between light and its connector) which is a plus when you decide to alter your light’s position by a foot or two to tweak your preferred light/shadow scene. Good quality lights that illuminate the walkway well. Pretty easy to install. The one issue was that when installing, the lens cap didn't rotate to a level position. So the base had to be mounted on an angle to level it. Not sure if something was missed. All in all, a well constructed and good product.
