Granted that my purpose may not be the most usual, which consists of deriving the light power of near UV and blue LED's (between 373 and 450nm).The limitations being that the meter shows results with a resolution of 50 mW/cm² (i.e. an actual value of, say, 425 will either be shown as 400 or 450) meaning that the lowest order digit will always be zero, and the second lowest either a zero or a five. Moreover, anything below 150 mW/cm² will read nothing (the display turns off entirely). The "high precision" and "accurate" claim is therefore somewhat dubious. The complete absence of a user manual and specifications/calibration is a bit strange, but not as much as the lack of a power switch. Basically, the unit turns on when the sensor window is illuminated with more than 150 mW/cm², which means that failed batteries will look the same as a failed whatever it is one is testing. Which also means it has to be kept in the dark, in its box, when not needed or else it will drain the batteries. For what it is worth, taking it out in direct sunlight shows a reading of 3500 -- if one can actually read the display as it is completely washed out.Overall, an average tool, if your needs are equally average.
