I guess I imagined I would see distinct trails of urine...what I see are blue glowing specs of what I think are lint. I know we have plenty of mice at our cabin, but I can't say this light has shown the trails. At least not what I expected.

If you have pets or if you travel a lot, you need this UV light! It makes it simple to discover if and where your pets may have decided to pee.I find it works best in the dark. Seriously, any urine or body fluids begin to glow. Yes, white fabric and surfaces glow, as do areas cleaned with certain detergents, but it's easy to tell the difference. Glowing detergent in areas where you have cleaned has very fuzzy edges, where as pet urine or body fluids have defined edges. You can clearly see droplets or spray patterns. This is a small flashlight and doesn't put out as much light as a larger one I have, but it works very well, particularly in a dark room. I like the small size since it fits in a drawer or a suitcase without taking up much space. It comes with the batteries pre-installed and ready to use.Besides checking up on your pets, it's a wonderful tool to take with you when traveling. Ever wonder how clean your hotel room is? If the bedspreads have ever been washed? Turn out the lights in your hotel room before unpacking your bag because you may see things that will make you ask for a different room - or even a different hotel! It's even possible to detect bed bug trails with a UV light so you don't end up bringing home more than airport souvenirs.NOTE: I received a free sample for review but a positive review was not asked for, promised or implied.

This is a great little LED backlight flashlight. Years ago I bought a bigger one and I lost it. How I could lose such a thing, I don't know. Especially since it was heavy and bulky for a flashlight. This one is light weight, small, and has much more power, so I am actually glad I lost the old one. With my old one, it had to be very dark in the room to see anything. This one works even during the day. It can't be super bright in the room (you do have to shut the blinds and make it as dark as possible), but it does a way better job in low light than the other one I had. Normally I find myself cleaning during the day as opposed to at night so this is very very helpful. We have a cat that has chronic urinary tract issues. He has struvite crystals and is also highly agitated half the time (that's just his personality). He has attacks here and there where his crystals get really bad, despite our best efforts to treat this condition. At those times when he has flare ups, he starts spraying everywhere in the house. And I do mean everywhere. He stays in my bathroom for lengths of time when things get really bad, but I like to leave him out for a while each day so he doesn't go bonkers being alone all the time. Within 5 seconds of coming downstairs, his tail is in the air and he is spraying. When he is sick, he doesn't even spray objects-he just puts his tail up in the center of a room and goes to town shooting urine everywhere. He is fixed so thankfully it doesn't stink as bad as an intact cat's spray would smell, but it is still awfully unpleasant. Leading up to a flare up, he will spray all around the house. Blacklight flashlights are the only way for me to keep on top of where he has sprayed and where the stink is coming from. He sprays walls, furniture, doors…anything he can. I call him "The Great Communicator" because he lets us know quite effectively when he is not feeling well. And keeps letting us know, over and over and over again. I've done so much research to try to stop this from happening, have worked with my vet, gotten the special food, make my own wet food, add water to everything to no avail, give him prozac, and so on. He may need surgery, which is what my vet and I have been discussing recently. There are no guarantees even with that though so this may be a lifelong struggle to keep after this guy's gross peeing habits. It would be cruel to lock him up in a room by himself all the time. Now, if I could just find a product that works to take all traces of the urine away (out of carpeting), I would be a happy camper, and it would make dealing with a cat with these issues less stressful. My cat is only 5 years old and he has had these urinary tract issues from a young age. Unfortunately, I have tried almost all the products on the market that claim to remove pet stains and odors completely. The spots still show up under the blacklight despite using enzymatic cleaners, peroxide, vinegar, etc. It smells better, most of the time, when I clean with some products, but they are not doing the job completely. Any suggestions for a cleaner that has worked for you to remove all traces would be most welcome. At this point I am soaking the carpet over and over with Nature's Miracle and the stains are still glowing under the blacklight. I use my carpet cleaner filled with vinegar and peroxide or oxy clean constantly too to no avail. I know Jackson Galaxy swears by Fizzion, but I haven't seen evidence that it actually works for anything besides taking the stink away temporarily.Anyway, this flashlight is great and even though I can't seem to clean the carpet properly, at least I can treat the areas that need it by using this nifty gadget. I don't have to wonder where the smell is coming from. At least I know!

I JUST BOUGHT THIS 2 DAYS AGO. I TOOK IT OUT OF THE PACKAGE AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS SMALLER THEN WHAT I HAD ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS. IT DID NOT WORK RIGHT AWAY WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON ON THE BOTTOM FOR IT TO TURN ON. SO I UNSCREWED THE BOTTOM WHERE THE BATTERIES WOULD BE AND SCREWED IT BACK ON AND IT THEN TURNED ON. THE REASON WE GOT THE LIGHT IS TO CHECK FOR URINE STAINS IN OUR CARPET IN OUR APARTMENT AS WE HAVE A CHIHUAHUA WHO IS NOT POTTY TRAINED. BEFORE MOVING INTO OUR APARTMENT, THE RESIDENT PRIOR HAD ANIMALS THAT PEE'D ON THE CARPET AND THE CARPET GOT REPLACED EVERYWHERE EXCEPT FOR 2 BEDROOMS. WHEN WE GOT OUR CHIHUAHUA SHE WAS ONLY ALLOWED IN THE KITCHEN AND THE LIVING ROOM (LIVING ROOM HAD BRAND NEW CARPET IN IT). SHE HAD FREQUENT ACCIDENTS BUT I WOULD CLEAN THEM UP RIGHT AWAY WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN. I FINALLY GOT FED UP WITH IT AND QUARANTINED HER TO OUR KITCHEN AS IT IS HUGE! I GOT MY CARPETS PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED AFTER. I BOUGHT THIS LIGHT RIGHT AFTER A FEW DAYS AGO TO SEE WHAT THE DAMAGE WAS....I STARTED USING IT AND I SAW NOTHING. I SAW PREVIOUS REVIEWS AND PICTURES AND MY CARPET LOOKED NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES. NOR COULD I SEE ANYTHING. I THEN THOUGHT THE PRODUCT WAS JUNK AND DID NOT WORK. I DECIDED TO GIVE IT ONE MORE CHANCE AND LOOK AT THE ROOMS THAT THE CARPET WAS NOT REPLACED DUE TO A DOG WHO LIVED IN OUR APT PREVIOUSLY.... AND OMMMMGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS DISGUSTING!!!!!!!! PISS EVERYWHERE!!!! I WAS DISGUSTED AND UPSET ON WHY THE CARPETS WERE NOT REPLACED IN THESE 2 ROOMS. LOOKING AT IT 80% OF THE CARPET WAS STAINED WITH PEE, WHICH WAS INDICATED BY BRIGHT "GLOWING" SPOTS ALL OVER THE CARPET! THE COLOR I COULD DESCRIBE IT BY IS IF YOU EVER HAD A GLOW STICK.... THAT PLASTIC TUBE THAT YOU COULD WEAR OR PLAY WITH THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO CRACK IT LIGHTLY TO GET THE SOLUTION TO "GLOW". SO IF YOU HAD A YELLOW GLOW STICK, CRACKED IT AND TURNED OFF THE LIGHT YOU WOULD SEE IT "GLOW" IN THAT LIGHT NEON COLOR. THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!!!!!!!MY CONCLUSION: THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. THIS HAS A GREAT PRICE. IT IS WORTH THE MONEY! I AM VERY HAPPY THAT I HAVE BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT. YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY!!! I HOPE THIS REVIEW HAS HELPED ANYONE WANTED A BLACK LIGHT/PET URINE DETECTOR!!!!!
