I did leatherwork for 15 years and got rid of all my tools a while back and not thinking ahead for when I might need to adjust a belt, like now.This rotary punch is good quality. Of course the barrels are brand new so they're sharp and they punched out a couple holes easily.Here's a couple tips if you are trying to punch through fairly thick leather.1. Twist the punch left to right as you squeeze it into the leather, the twist again as you're pulling out.2. If you are unable to get the punch to depress all the way through just using your hand strength, lay the bottom grip onto a solid surface and then use your body weight to push down on the top grip.The other delightful thing about this punch is the extras it came with -- a file for sharpening the barrels if they get dull and a nifty little metal ruler (inches on one side and CM on the other).
