Very easy to use! So far haven't found lead iny home but definitely going to keep testing items.

I chose this brand over others because it claims to be non-toxic and non-staining. The swabs start out a mustard color then change to white when you add the reagent, which smells like vinegar. I used these swabs to test a cast iron mortar and pestle, and while the iron rubbed off on the swab, it didn't change to pink/purple, indicating lead falls below the testing sensitivity threshold which is...Uh.. It says PPM which is parts per million, but then gives surface concentration units, which aren't exchangeable unless you know the mass per unit area of the substance you're testing (usually paint, and mass is obtained through x-ray fluorescence). So I'd go with 2 mg / cm^2 and assume the "PPM" on the box is an error. If it's 2 mg / cm^2, the detection level is DOUBLE the threshold at which paint is considered "lead based paint" (1 mg / cm^2), so it won't always detect lead based paint. So, it indicates it's below 2 mg / cm^2, I assume. To check whether they respond to lead, I wiped it on some lead and it turned purple, indicating lead. So they do work. I just don't have lead paint for comparison.

Used this when renovating an old farmhouse. I was able to identify lead paint that was under multiple layers of pain on the trim. Easy to use and read results and it shipped super-fast. There is a lot of swabs in the kit, so it will last through multiple projects. Highly recommend.

I've been trying to figure out if there was lead in a few things in my old house. These did exactly what I needed them to do! I know have a plan of action going forward that will make my house safer.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE! I got these to test things in my house after my son tested elevated lead levels. Everything I tested showed no lead in them. Then my husband had a professional come test some things, and many things that I had already tested HAD LEAD IN THEM! THESE TESTS SAID THERE WAS NO LEAD BUT THERE WAS! DO NOT TRUST THESE!

Easy to use… just swipe the surface with the provided cotton swab + 5 drops of regeant, rub 30 sec and match to chart. Color chart also very good and easy to understand. Worth it

This is an awful product. Out of 6 kits I bought, 4 were defective. With the first 2 kits, I was happy with the results, and I was going to give a great review. I am glad I didn't. I have spent too much time waiting for replacements that end up being defective, too. Now, I am just returning a bunch of them. I am including the defective swabs that tested negative on established high lead items. This has just been a huge waste of time. This product is not reliable.
