They work well with a workout, careful not to fall because they get stuck. Better to water before using, easy to loose your balance.

Good product that work but does need the spikes to be cleaned every couple of steps.

These things are AWESOME! They’re fun and easy and we’ve seen an improvement in our gas’s growth in the areas we’ve used these on. Just finished aerating the lawn and will be putting seed down in our bare areas. I’m confident it’ll grow great with how well these aerate the ground. They can get stuff stuck on them a lot but maybe that’s just because our ground is so muddy…

I was warned by a few people that these don’t work, but I had already ordered. I was hoping to prove them wrong. I followed instructions for fit, but the wouldn’t stay on. When the spikes went through ground, they stayed when I lifted foot. I had to manually remove device with my hands, try to remove dirt from spikes, and start over. I finally gave up after twisting both my ankle and knee. I later found my neighbor had broken an ankle with a set. I waited too long to return; would give them away, but seriously concerned about being responsible for someone getting hurt

These work great, no assembly needed, but figuring out how to lace the straps was a bit of a challenge. I only wore them twice before one of the straps broke. Make sure you're wearing some sort of high top shoe or boot, because the straps will dig into your skin. Also be careful where you step, the spikes are long and sharp; so, if you step on something other than grass or dirt you may stumble and/or fall.

This tool works as intended but don't think it's a quick fix for your soil compaction problems. First, the tool is well made to last with a metal plate, unlike others which are all plastic and break easily. Second, the velcro straps work well, although I recommend you don't try to simply slip them on and go. Ensure you thread them correctly and snugly -- and put them on where you intend to walk. Don't walk across the sidewalk, etc ... they're not made to walk on concrete. Third, ensure you have them strapped on tight. You will have to "learn" how to walk in them, so go slow and steady - you're not running a race. Best worn with boots. Third, when walking try to stay more on the front of your foot and stay balanced. If you don't have good balance and or strength in your legs, don't buy this product - use another tool. Fourth, if it's the least bit wet, you'll need to use the provided tool to scrape chunks off so keep that tool handy. Fifth, this is best used for limited areas, such as a 10 x 12 section that is compacted. So, I liked the sturdiness over other similar products and the provided scrapping tool to leverage chunks of dirt/mud off the bottom. Now, another comment, if your soil is compacted, aerating is only the first step ... you should get a soil amendment, like mulch or peat moss, to solve the issue. However, these shoes are the first step unless you want to till by hand or rake. After use, it's perfect to put down seed/fertilizer.

The reviews for these soil aerator "shoes" were all over the place so I did not know what to expect. I tried this years ago using golf shoes and the results were not that good. Since renting the equipment or paying someone to do it was more than I wanted to pay I thought I'd give it a try. The spikes are long enough that you get a real hole in the soil. It only took a minute or two to get the hang of walking (lift your foot up and down like marching) and the task seemed easy. It's a little tiring so for 100 x 150 yard or so I did sections at a time. Be sure you wet the ground or do it the day after a rain. I am happy with the results.

Spikes and sole are very durable, but one of the straps frayed and broke during its first use. I followed the instructions to a tee! Even waited for rain to fall over two days. I do not recommend this product for people who own medium to large lawns.
