used this to help line up shelving and install handles and worked amazing. It is very versatile. It can take a tiny bit of getting used to it, but all in all I would recommend to anyone who is planning on hanging pictures across a room, installing shelving on a wall or even for lining up electrical boxes etc...

I believe this is primarily intended to use with the pole under tension, with top pushed against the ceiling and for that it works very well. The foot control for applying tension works great and to my thinking, the tripod really just serves to hold things in place while getting set up. That said, it can also work quite well as a free-standing tripod provided you don't get too many extensions attached and make it top-heavy. I tried it free-standing with 3 extension poles attached bringing it up around 11 feet and it seemed quite stable. You could probably go higher but depending on the weight of your laser, it might get a bit tippy.Assembly is simple and only takes a minute to get set up. The carry bag is great with individual sleaves for each extension pole so they don't get banged up in transit. There small pouches for each piece of the kit so everything stays in place. An added bonus is the bag is big enough that I can also fit my laser in it, so I've got all my gear kept together. The only shortcoming for me is that the screw that attaches to my laser it a bit long so I cannot make the laser attach snuggly to the base. I think I could remedy this fairly easily with a slotted shim made from a piece of plastic or acrylic.

I purchased a laser level last year; my camera tripod worked, but not that well, so I decided to try this. It did not come with instructions, and the company did not reply to my request, but it was not difficult to set up after looking at the instructions on Amazon. My pictures were taken with 3 of the 5 rods; it is stable in use. I don't know that it would be sturdy enough for a contractor's heavy use, but for a DIYer's home use, it will do very well. All of the pieces are contained in a zipper storage bag. I'm installing French Cleats in my garage, and I'll use it during that installation.

I previously used a laser pole that is a tension rod that goes from floor to ceiling but that can be a pain to set up and it can mark the ceiling. This tripod design is a lot easier to set up and doesn’t require a cailing at all. It is nice that you can use just the amount of sections needed and the laser mount is really easy to adjust and fine tune. I am deducting a star for the tripod base which I feel is too lightweight and small, if I were to put this at or near full height then it would tip over with the weight of the laser attached.

Poles are the only good part. Everything else is cheap plastic and very flimsy.

I used to use a more expensive spring-loaded telescoping laser pole that fits between the floor and ceiling, but I wasn't happy with it. It was difficult to move, and many times the laser had to be positioned exactly where the smaller diameter rod enters the larger one (e.g., for upper cabinet installation). Additionally, the rubber foot would leave marks on the ceiling. This laser tripod is a much superior product, despite being almost half the price. I've been using it for a couple of months now and couldn't be happier with it.It's very easy to adjust the laser by just moving the whole pole up and down using only one knob, so you don't need to have lasers with adjustable mounts and what not. The metric and imperial markings on the pole are also very helpful.Anyway, I'm extremely happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone who works with lasers. At least now I know what to get my friends in construction for their birthdays!

Very solid, sturdy, stable laser pole mount setup..At almost 16feet, it actually looks almost impressive as it sticks up in the air while shooting a laser beam across a steep grade...And it all breaks down to a highly portable size in a storage case...
