I had one of these handed down from my parents from the 1940s. It finally fell apart. I bought 3 of these, they are not going to last 3 generations but I LOVE knowing the outside temp before I go out. I have one in attic and garage as well Love em. Get em. You can see em across the yard!!

I purchased this product to use inside my henhouse as we have 100 chickens. And during our hot summer Florida months, it can get pretty hot in there and we have three fans circulating the air and pushing the air outward to keep the temperatures down the thermometer has been very helpful With keeping an eye on the temperatures in the house well, my chickens are laying their eggs. Placed it in a good area. I’m able to check on the laying hens and adjust the fans accordingly. I would say that the thermometer performs as it should, it’s very durable, for a chicken hen house. The appearance is fine. They don’t even notice it. The battery life seems to be lasting for quite some time, and it has rained on The thermometer before I moved it to a more secure, better location. It has still kept working, so it is performing quite well and doing its job. I recommend this thermometer, it’s a little smaller than I thought, but it’s perfect for the henhouse.

So I recently moved into an uninsulated tiny home, I wanted to see how cold it got in there. Mind you, it got 19 degrees last night and this thing said it was 60. So, if that don’t tell you anything idk what will. It was extremely cold my sodas even froze lol. No worries as I am insulating very soon. But yeah, it’s been on the same temp pretty much since being out of the package. I tried giving it a few days maybe to adjust but no change?? Idk.

This replaces one that was broken when the wind blew it away.

Thermometer hangs on a covered part of our front porch, and we can easily read the outside temps without ANY batteries or WIFI needed!I earlier rated this higher, BUT - now a change. I have a similar one by the same manufacturer made from metal. This one is made from plastic. The plastic one doesn't register the actual temperature change when outside and placed against the wall, like the metal one does. Seems like the plastic actually inhibits the changes, so if you plan to use it outside where the temperature changes a lot (Midwest), well, I told you so!Mr Zipp

We wanted something to read about 8 ft away and this numerals are large enough to easily read. I set outside next to another thermometer of know accuracy an the LaCross was exactly the same. The back is hollow and the thermometer mechanism is exposed so if must be mounted on a wall. There is a hourglass mount hole to hang. Its light enough to be able to use double back foam tape on the center of its front clear face and attach to the glass pane of a patio door so it can be viewed from the inside and show outdoor temp. Again the temp mechanism is exposed so perhaps over time it will stop working.

I bought three of these because we did some major modifications to the garage and I wanted to see how well my insulation was working before and after the work. Testing them before hand they were off about 1-2 degrees from each other. Not a real big deal but enough that you need to be aware. I put one outside, one in the new insulated garage and one in the new add on pantry. I wanted to see how well the garage insulation did as well as the temperature difference between it and the new pantry. The nice part of these is they have a good mounting system, you just drive in a nail or screw and they have a large slide down holder on the back. The one outside occasionally swings in the wind yet it stays on the nail. They are also easy to read at a distance, unlike a lot of outdoor thermometers.
