La Bella Has Over 400 Years of String Making Experience

The tradition of string making dates back to the 1640s in Salle, Italy, where the Mari family supplied gut strings to the famous violin builders of Cremona. In 1913, brothers Olinto & Emilio Mari arrived in New York bringing their family craft to the States. Over the years, the brothers shaped the landscape of the string industry with their innovative designs. Every set is manufactured using a perfect combination of traditional methods and latest technologies to produce a superior string.

At the recommendation of several sources on the internet, I bought these to replace the probably cheap round wound strings that came with my Rogue VB100. They absolutely improved the playability of the instrument and produce a softer tone. They were a bit expensive but if you keep them clean these stainless strings are said to last a lot longer than nickel or steel strings. I am not a professional, I mostly play at home for fun but I am happy with these. They are a definite improvement over the original strings.

I put these on a Rogue vb100, which is a Hofner copy. They fit perfectly, improved the sound and some buzzing without having to do a setup, and they are easier on the fingers to play. I think I'm going to put a set of these flatwounds on my other bass as well, they sound so good.

I put these on a Horner Ignition bass, and wow what a huge difference these make. The sound is phenomenal. If you’re looking to make your bass sound like the vintage basses, these are what you need.

I bought a new Hofner ignition beatle bass. New bass had fret buzz on E string on frets 1&2. Took to guitar tech & had truss rod adjusted & pounded down 2 frets. still had buzz on 1st fret. Suggested try new stringsor would need to get fret dress. Bought these La Bella beatle bass strings and wow! no more fret buzz. These strings feel great and sound great. Thank you La Bella for making a great quality product.

I recently purchased one of the new (2021) Hofner Ignition PRO Club basses. One of their distinguishing features is that the come stock with flats. Unfortunately the factory flatwounds on this new model left a lot to be desired. The E string was completely dead, and sounded like someone smacking the side of a timpani with a manila folder (no fundamental, lots of weird harmonics). It’s no secret that Hofner flats are usually Pyramids, but in the case of this new budget model, I seem to doubt it.Having never owned a Hofner before, I researched available options and landed on these. Let me tell you, it was a good choice. The feel of the strings is supple and remind me of the TI’s I have on my precision. The tone is balanced from string to string. They are way easier to intonate than the factory set. Tension on the light set is just about perfect. And most importantly, they sound thick but defined. With the bass solo switch engaged, they thump hard. With the treble solo switch engaged, they can cop a great tic-tac sound. They are incredibly versatile and complement each of the Hofner’s modes very well.

These LaBella strings are as good if not better than the originals. Super smooth to the touch and every note rings out clear including the E string.

At first, I was a little skeptical that these strings would fix some of the issues with my (original) 60's Beatle Bass. I had been running medium scale, flat-wounds for a while on it, but they didn't really fit right. They didn't have the proper taper beyond the nut, so there was a big lump of string around the tuning pegs. This made tuning way too course. My Hofner also had issues with low volume from the D string, and some intonation issues...both of which I never seemed to be able to get rid of. I installed these La Bella strings today. WOW, what an improvement! I could put the D string pick-up pole back down even with the rest, and the string volume is completely consistent now. It was easy to move a couple of the bridge saddles to get the intonation just right all the way up the neck. Couldn't get there before. The tuning is now MUCH more precise, because these strings have the proper taper up beyond the nut, so the tuning is dramatically improved. I never expected a set of strings would make so much of a difference...but these do. Nice, smooth feel to them as well. Very much the "Sir Paul" sound I like as well. Clearly, the folks at La Bella did their homework on these. Now I'll probably buy an extra set, since I'll be playing my Hofner a lot more now. No, this is not a compensated review. I bought my set of strings just like everyone else...never gotten a bass free-bee in my life.
