In 1989, DR Strings re-introduced handmade round core string making to the general market. It requires a lot of skill, time and care, but we feel it’s worth it because we can hear the difference between a handmade string and a machine made string.
Our winders take at least 6 months to learn their craft. It takes that long to develop a feel, an understanding, an instinct to make the constant tiny adjustments that only a hand can make. At each stage we test the wire, we check that it is pristine when it arrives from our suppliers, we inspect each and every wrap during production to ensure its quality, and then again as we hand-package it.

Perfect for a multiscale bass. Pretty sure they'd work on just about any other bass too. Good feel, nice and springy. The coating has a nice smoothness to it - not quite like nylon wound strings, but a little softer than standard rounds.

I've been playing bass guitar for 26 years and throughout all those years I've not tried Dr. Strings on a bass so figured give them a try since it was time for some new strings. Upon receiving the stings and opening them they look and feel like a good string. The winding looked good and tight and they had that good bright glisten to them with no oxidation so I was excited to string them up. Took old ones off and got these all in place then began to tune. As soon as I got the fattest string almost to the correct tuning it snapped . I though eh that's happened before no biggie. I had to go to work anyways so decided I'll finish the tuning later. 2 days later I'm finishing tuning after putting the old string back on to replace the replacement and almost all tuned up and snap again the G string snaps right as it perfectly gets in tune. So 2 out of 5 strings snapped before even playing them. In 26 years I've never had 2 brand new strings break out of the same pack while tuning. So after trying Dr strings on my guitar and now on bass guitar with both times ending in disappointment I can declare that Dr. Strings won't be going on any of my string instruments ever again.

I recently got these bass strings and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and performance. The Quantum Nickel material provides a clear and crisp tone, while the coating ensures a comfortable playing experience. The strings have a long life span, maintaining their tone and playability even after extended use. The multi-scale design also helps to improve intonation and overall playability. I like DR strings in general and these don't disappoint. I was afraid because they are bright which, on a 5 string, I am looking for the LOW. But these strings do both. I am super happy with the way they sound. I also like the coated strings. I can move my fingers like butter. I make sure to wipe them down each time I play so I don't have any corrosion issues. These are definitely worth the money!

DR Strings are far and away my favorite string manufacturer for electric and acoustic guitars: I have been buying them for years and years. I also play a little bit of bass here and there when I get the chance, and was happy to give these a shot since my bass is due for a new set anyway. This is a 5 string set, but if you have a 4 string bass like I do, you can just ditch the low B string: there are still strings in this pack for E, A, D, and G.The strings themselves seem just as good as any other set of DR Bass strings I have used. They feel good (once you get used to the coating of course: it does have a slightly different feel to it). And they sound great. A little bit more bright sounding than what I was running before, which lends itself well to playing a more percussive slap style. The bottom end is still nice and full though as well.All in all, these are great strings and I am not surprised considering I am running a set of Dragon Skins on my acoustic and one of my electrics right now as well. They all sound great. DR makes really great strings. You can't go wrong here.

These strings really bring out the full potential of my guitar. The accurate core technology makes a noticeable difference—the low notes are clearer and more powerful. The sound feels more balanced overall, and the playability is smoother than other strings I’ve tried. They give a rich tone with a nice mix of warmth and punch, and there’s definitely more output. I also appreciate that the strings feel natural despite the coating, and they’ve held up really well over time. Tuning stays stable, even with detuning. Definitely recommend. Thank you to the seller.

Exceptional clarity of tone. Kind of piano-like, which is great as I like a "modern" bright bass tone. Tension and flexibility are great. Fairly low tension but not floppy. Coating has a bit of friction against the fingers when first installed but this seemed to pass quickly once played in. Time will tell if they last well, but if they do that will be my string of choice for sure.
