Having an older gas can made it harder for me to find a suitable replacement. This cap for 1.75” threads was about the only acceptable replacement I could find. I wish they sold only the coarse threaded cap. If you need a fine thread cap, look me up

The black gasket turns into a crumbly gooey mess when it comes into contact with gasoline. Come on guys. Who picked this material for the gasket -- incompetent? 12 years old? I just got finished cleaning out the mess of black junk in my gas can and around the cap area. It was not fun. And it ruined my gas. I ordered some 1/8 inch thick buna nitril rubber which is gas proof ( I tested it before proceeding) and cut out a new cap gasket.

In California, we have rules and regs about the type of Gas Can you can get. They all come with a spill proof spout. The only problem is that the spouts don't collapse, and then the cannister doesn't fit in your car efficiently. This cap replaced it, no problem.

The seal is already deteriorating after just having it for a couple weeks. I put this on a gas can and even though I didn't put it in the gas it is already deteriorating. I am going to have to find a replacement seal for this and I don't really know how to do that. The seal needs to be a better quality material. The cap is just fine it's just the seal. One of the Caps fit perfectly on my gas can like I wanted it to. The flexible gas can with the spouts got a little water in from time to time which caused me fuel problems. This was the perfect solution except for the seal.

I purchased this to replace a harbor freight diesel (yellow) can. It works fantastic. The seal is nice. Threads are a perfect fit as well. Obviously, there will be a loss of the horrible safety pour nozzle. If you no longer need the nozzle and just need a air tight, leak proof lid. Buy this and your problem is solved.

Allows me to retain my 5 gallon Midwest gasoline can. The diameter and thread pitch (coarse) match my Midwest can perfectly. Bear in mind, this is a cap, not a spout. That's fine with me because I use a funnel when pouring. I hang on to my old gas cans because the new ones are so stupidly designed.

All the EPA CARB Compliant Gasoline Tanks are Difficult to Open, Have to be Removed, and Overpriced. These Caps were far more Sealable and Easy Usable when Pouring into Dollar Store $1 Funnel. Cutting off the Unamenable Carb Caps that did not work was the only Alternative. I believe in Climate Change and Accept Changes Required, but some Products like this cause more Problems, Costs, and Not Working. These need to Study and Revise such Products every Few Years that are more Workable and Answerable with EPA and ISO40001 Compliance. Soon Electric Cars will make these Inoperable Gas Caps Obsolete and these Kool Products Gas Can Caps can be used for other Purposes. Disposing these Plastic Caps and Cans with be Difficult as well. Globally we can do better together!
