I have had many futons...but this is the most difficult to pull in and out. The mattress weighs a ton and there are no handles to set it in position. It'd also very uncomfortable mattress. Trying to put a protector on takes 30 mins of tugging, pulling etc. It cannot be opened or closed with ease so guests just leave it open defeating the spacer feature. It is pretty and was easy to assemble which is why I gave it 2 stars.

If you carefully read the instructions, the futon isn't that difficult to assemble. It's a pretty physical process, but the instructions are very clear and helpful. Just slow down and make sure you fully understand each step before proceeding. This futon is incredible. I bought the queen size and it's rather large, but obviously very strong and well built. The cushion is very comfortable just as it is. We plan to add a foam topper for when it is used as a bed for guests to take it to the next level. Overall, it is beautiful and a nice addition to our bonus room.

It was so easy to put together, it took two of us but the directions were straightforward and easy to follow. It’s very solidly built, feels and looks expensive, and it is the perfect size! I’m 5’11” and my feet don’t hang off the end when I sleep! It’s super comfy for sitting and sleeping! It’s a bit difficult to put back into sitting position, I always need help but with two people it’s quick and easy.

The product is sturdy and comfortable. The instructions, with the assembly video, are complete and easy to follow. It still takes several hours to assemble, however, all parts were present and all parts lined up properly.

I have been using this as my bed and couch for 4 months. As a bed, it works great! It's comfortable and sturdy. As a couch, I find the seat angle to be too severe. I would prefer a flatter seat portion, but it is a minor complaint. I'm happy with my purchase, and would recommend it to anyone else living in a very small space who needs furniture that is multi-functional.

The assembly took some time, but was not difficult. The only thing that would be nice to have is handles to pull the mattress up into the sitting position - to move it from the bed position to a couch. The mattress is quite heavy (very comfortable to lie on, but heavy to lift up). Any suggestions for help with this?

This is a very sturdy futon. It isn't hard to put together but it is time-consuming. Expect to take two or more hours. It is especially difficult alone, but not impossible. I am happy with the way it looks, how sturdy it is, and the overall comfort of the mattress. What I do NOT like is that the video shows it is very simple to push at the seam and lift the back and fold it right up into a sitting position. That's a joke. Two mornings in a row, I've tried to do that and it doesn't budge. I've had to drag the very heavy mattress off of the frame, fold it up, and then lug the mattress back into place. It takes me twenty minutes and is not safe to do in your bare feet - trust me on this. I'm going to use bar soap and try to lubricate the joints where the frame slides up and down. I am going to try using ratchet tie-downs to lift the back end while I move the front side and see if it can be done without moving the mattress completely off, but I'm not hopeful.

The mattress arrived (note that it shipped in 3 containers- arms, frame, mattress- all delivered on different days) on June 12... it's now June 19 and I can barely tolerate the smell coming off the mattress. I'm not one to complain but this is terrible. When the mattress arrived my husband and I unrolled it- it was curled up like a Hostess Ho-Ho and stuffed into an 8' long shipping box, the entire thing wrapped in plastic and secured with heavy duty strapping tape. We then unrolled it and put it on the futon frame. The smell was overpowering but this wasn't our first rodeo with shipped furniture and cushions, so figured it would dissipate shortlyWell, it's 7 days later and I can't abide to be in the same room with it without a window fan going on exhaust to suck out the strong odor. It's in my office, too, where I work all day so it's nauseating. The smell is a sharp, acrid tang that leaves an almost soapy taste in my mouth. By the time I'm done working at 4:00 my lips and tongue feel like they are stinging, so I'm probably allergic to the chemical used to treat this thing. I have a small house with no room as it is but if I had the space I'd move the mattress somewhere else until the stink is gone.So please, be warned when you purchase this and allow for ample time for the smell to abate. I'm hoping by the end of the month I can tolerate it enough to actually sit on it for more than a few minutes. I tried Febreeze but that only helped until it dried and then I think it made it worse.Another irksome thing is that the plastic grommets used to hold the mattress cover on can be tough to lay on, so I recommend putting a cover down instead of laying directly on the mattress. If you don't it's kinds of like laying on the flat side of a Lego (or so my husband has told me who took a nap on it yesterday). But to leave this review on a bright note, the frame itself is gorgeous and very well built. It feels solid and I'm not exactly a petite person, so the few times I've used it as a couch I didn't feel like it was going to break or anything. Not sure I would buy this again, however, just because of the problem with the mattress.
