Recently had to redo my in-laws shower caulking which was extremely old and had years of caulking layered upon years of caulking. I needed a tool that would help me scrape off the old caulking and this tool did the job and then some! It's well designed but what I really like about it is that made of very sturdy stainless steel. I used the scratcher to perform most of the removal. Its stiff nature and angled design, made quick removal easy for the most part. I then used the joint hook to remove stubborn caulking in cracks and tile connection points. Again, the hook made caulk removal a breeze. And if that was it, I'd be happy as a clam and had no intent on using the tool for applying new caulking, but the various rubber spreading trowel nubs gave me different options for spreading the caulking smoothly. I chose one and used it effectively to lay down the new caulk.one tip that I can pass is to make sure you look at how the trowel nubs attach. I didn't realize initially how they were to be attached. The portion of the stainless steel tip inserts into the nub to hold it in place and other points on the nub fit into the stem of the trowel portion to further hold it in place. I can also recommend that you have plenty of paper towels, water and a trash can in place, so you can clean the tool and your hands as you go!I highly recommend this KLRStec tool!

Excellent tool for removing old outdoor caulk around windows and garage framing. Anyone who has tried removing old caulk will know what I am talking about. This tool is well built (German engineering) and is solid stainless steel. It is very solid. Old caulk is a bear to remove and I couldn't have done it without this tool. I highly recommend to anybody.

In theory, this is a smart, useful tool. In practice, however, there is a serious gap between price and quality. Had I found this tool in a store, I would have expected to pay maybe $8. It’s the quality of Harbor Freight, at best. I love Harbor Freight, but I shop there knowing what to expect, and only buy certain items there. This product appeared to be something I would buy once and be able to use it for the rest of my DIY life. That will not happen. It is flimsy and this is the worst piece of it for me. It is not sturdy when using the hook piece- is bends to the left and right as I used it. The scraper pieces pop off constantly. If the price was $8, it would be a five star product. For $20, it gets 3 stars from me.

For removing the old caulk, having the multiple tools worked very well for me to get every nook and cranny of our shower. I used the blade, hook and corner blade to remove all of the old caulk, but it took some elbow grease to really work it all off. I ended up using the hook tool for a majority of the joists to break the seals and then followed up by the flat blade. I thought I would have used the curved blade but it didn't quite have the "point" that I was needing to get deep into the crevice. When applying the new sealant, the only issue I had was the rubber tips would come off pretty easily based on the amount of pressure I used when applying the new caulk. I tried to make the seal as tight as as could and, as a novice, the excess caulk will get everywhere so I was having to regularly clean the tips as they would slide off the tool more and more depending on much would get built up. We used some pretty thick sealant which may have added to the amount of pressure I was needing to add.Having used other tools for the same job, this was money well spent.
