I purchased this compass needing it to draw circles up to 16”. Figured this would work well as it specifies 16.5” max. When I received the compasss it functioned very well, quick to open and easy to adjust accurately BUT it only opened to 13.5”, which is not enough in my application.I contacted the seller and was told the issue is due to manufacturing variation, probably in the length of the threaded shaft. They never provided any solution to resolve the problem. Being a capable mechanic I suggested requested they ship me a replacement part as an amicable solution, lower cost for them and I would impart the labour to fix it. They indicated they don’t sent parts and told me to “have a nice life”!I’m writing this so others are aware of the situation. Should you need the larger diameter be aware they may or may not provide what you need. If you are okay with less than 13.5” then they would be a suitable product. If you need more that 13.5” and you purchase this item I hope you get one on the right side of the bell curve.

This thing is great, it adjust easily and has fine enough threads so you can make fine adjustments. The spring is strong enough to hold your setting. The pencil holder holds the pencil sturdy.It came with three pencils but the sharpener was not included. no big deal.
