The compass and divider are probably great, but I wouldn't know since Amazon sent me a used and broken product. Not only was the kit clearly used, but it was missing pieces and came with a broken case since it was shipped without any wrapping or padding.

Excellent.mainly used for pen and ink work.been using alvin sets since 1969,did not dissapoiny.A lot of reviews are old,since have changed packaging,arrived in new and whole condition. My first with "speed"mechanism.time will tell.

I use this for small woodworking projects and plans, it is compact and seems like very nice quality.

this is a nice compass, works well and keeps the setting. only bad thing is the screws for the interchangeable leg come out easily and can get lost. would be better if the screw would only loosen but not be removable. otherwise it works well for my needs

First let me start by saying the seller was awesome and I got my compass set quickly and without any issues. Sadly, this compass set was a disappointment, especially when compared to an older 1980's Alvin compass. The smaller compass handle broke off the first time I used it and the larger compass legs won't stay locked and bow/flex at the worst possible times.

The quality of this product is wonderful, for what the price is... you just need to get the hang of using it, cause it is awkward at first... had to make circles for my design class and I got tired of it, so I free handed them... and she couldn't tell the difference... however, it does what it needs to and more... the extra tip where you apply more medium... is a wonderful thing... I like it just for that cause it creates a crisp clean line I never could.
