the compass works well and i like the multi position aspect however the sticky pad does not hold well in the horzontal position.. rather than return it i just bought some plastic model cement and now i have it securely mounted to the dashboard of my vehicle

My first red flag for this product was the day it arrived in the mail, as there was absolutely no booklet or product info of any kind... Just a plain white box (not taped), holding the product inside a bag of cellophane. That was it. No instructions or "thank you for choosing us!" paper or anything like that, very obviously a secondhand flip here. The cellophane was covered in a greasy lubricant-like substance was well. I just assumed it was dirty from the factory, but it appears as though this assumption would be proven wrong later on (more on that below).Within the first ten minutes of mounting this inside my truck, the adhesive bonding on the back of the sticker placed on the product completely gave out, and I had to secure it with super glue. Immediately afterward, the fronts of the stickers wouldn't hold either, and I had to put super glue between them. The back of the sticker that attached to my truck seemed to work good enough though, and the product has been successfully mounted ever since. Still annoying however.Finally, I noticed that the product was always greasy no matter how many times I cleaned it; it didn't go away. In addition, the little air bubble at the top of the fluid that the rotating compass piece floats inside of was gradually getting bigger and bigger each day, meaning the fluid inside was all going somewhere. It's so low now, that the compass is sluggish and has a hard time moving freely.... And I've only owned the product LESS THAN 2 MONTHS...I wanted to give it 2 stars, since the swivel stays in the position I adjusted it to for the most part, and because the compass part actually did work fine when it was submerged in enough fluid, but not for fricken $17 that I paid.Giving this one more courteous star would've only been appropriate if this was a $5 product.

The enclosed double-stick disc did not work worth a crap. Finally found something that worked at a local hardware store. The compass itself is wonderful.

We ordered several different compasses and returned them. This one is the Winner!! Sticks tight to my dash. Large, easy to read markings. Fun tool :)

Absolute trash, I thought maybe as long as it gives me general direction. This compass works about 30% of the time. I drove around for 30 minutes and thought I got it working... then it stopped being accurate agian. I tried it inside and outside of the car. It doesn't seem to be getting stuck anywhere. It is as if the magnet is too weak maybe. Sometimes it is 30° off, sometimes it is 0° off, sometimes it's 90° off, and sometimes it is 180° off. If I ever had to use this thing I would have to constantly check that it is true. If you cannot trust a compass you might as well throw it away.

While the compass seems accurate outside, I couldn’t find a place to mount on my dash that gave correct readings. Since this is a “car dash” compass, I think that’s pretty important!If your mounting location doesn’t have magnetic interference, you may be fine.Other than that, for the price, it is built well enough and looks pretty good.
