And the wide, comfortable pestle with gently curved base makes full contact with all ingredients, keeping them in place during processing. The stability of the mortar and the distribution of its weight provides good balance so it stays steady on the worktop without shifting. A deeply rounded well keep the ingredients from squirting and jumping out.

This item showcases superb workmanship, and the intricately carved design is skillfully executed. Personally, I utilize it for grinding dried herbs. However, caution is advised against washing this wooden piece, as it comprises three sections fused together for the bowl. Water exposure could lead to wood expansion, potentially disrupting or widening the joins. Instead, I recommend wiping it with a dry or very slightly damp cloth when needed. Additionally, be mindful of using it for highly pungent ingredients, considering wood's porous nature that may absorb odors. Its aesthetic appeal makes it suitable as a standalone decorative accent on an altar or shelf.

Worked well for a potion set I bought my daughter. I wanted some more accessories to go with it.

A bit smaller than I would’ve liked but it’s adorable. I use it for the kitchen and it does the job.

The workmanship is excellent, and the carved design well-executed. I use mine to grind dried herbs. I would not recommend washing this piece, as it is wood, and made by fusing 3 sections together for the bowl. So water would expand the wood, and widen or disrupt the joins. I would wipe it out with a dry or very very slightly damp cloth if necessary. I would also be careful using it to crush extremely pungent ingredients as wood is porous, and tends to absorb odors. It is attractive as a stand alone decorative accent on an altar or shelf as well.

I've seen a lot of reviews stating that these don't clean well, the inside is unfinished and how it's an annoyance but that's the reality of a good wooden mortar and pestleIt's not like granite or other stones, no matter what you do, even if the wood was finished on the inside, it will easily grind away and wear off. You only want to clean wood with a damp towel and wipe it out otherwise you can cause it to swell and water log and once it dries out it will crack.Overall, I use this for my chiles and other heated spices and have separate ones for baking and etc.It works well but won't grind things into tiny flakes, you get more chunky flakes. Don't apply a ton of pressure otherwise you'll crack the wood.Overall, a damn good pestle and mortar for the price it is
