Using for milling tomatoes to can. I discovered that it works incredibly well if I cook stuff down first and then mill it. Was shocked at how much extra sauce came out of tomato seeds and skins.

The only food mill I've owned before this one is the cone shaped one with the wooden mallet that I bought over 40 years ago. It was the same as what we used 60 years ago as a kid for making applesauce. That cone one is a mess to use and clean up! Now that I'm retired and getting back into canning, I decided that I wanted a new food mill for my applesauce and tomato sauce. It didn't arrive soon enough to make my applesauce, so tomato sauce it is. This food mill is well made, heavy duty and a breeze to use. I cooked up 12# of tomatoes on Friday. Only took a few minutes to put everything through the mill. Went out and bought another 25# of tomatoes yesterday and cooked up half of it today. My tomato sauce is now cooking down in the crock pot to can it later this evening. The remaining skins and seeds is maybe just over a half cup. These will go into my dehydrator to grind up into tomato powder. I originally had a much cheaper food mill in my shopping cart, until I found this one. Very happy with my purchase!

Easy to assemble, a breeze to clean, very sturdy. I've used it mainly to remove skins and seeds on tomatoes for processing, and this is by far the best product I've ever used. My only regret is waiting so long to buy one.

Excellent quality, easy to use and clean, fits any size pot. We mostly use it to grind tomatoes and it did this in a fraction of the time it took with other ones I've bought.I updated my review from 4 to 5 stars after using it for almost 3 years. I have seldom had a kitchen gadget hold up like this one. I've probably used it a hundred times and it still looks and works like brand new. Since Covid I'm cooking more at home and have used it to grind potatoes for mashed and gnocci, pureed veggies for soups and fruit for sorbet. Everything comes out perfect with little effort. A fantastic purchase. As an aside, I think the people that have had bad experiences using it are overloading it. If you put too much in at one time the spring action can cause the grating disk to shift and loosen causing a gap. When that happens you have to disassemble it and start over which can be a pain. Just don't put too much in at once and you won't have any problems.

I purchased this food mill about a year ago. I purchased the Kuchenprofi instead of other brands because it had good reviews and it wasn't made in China. It also was at a great price point too. I used it for the first time to puree apples for apple butter shortly after purchasing it. I have to say the first time I used it I was not overly impressed. I felt as if it took a very long time to puree this way and other reviews had said how fantastic and quickly this food mill and food mills in general were for pureeing food. I initally felt like it was a mistake purchasing a mill and wondered how any mill could be quoted by others as being, "the go to kitchen tool". However, being someone who doesn't like to waste money and someone who lives and breathes the moto "when at first you don't succeed, try again", I felt I should give it a second chance. I used it the second time to puree strawberries for jam and loved it. I have used it quite often since and love it more and more each time. I now find it to puree quickly and have started to view it as one of the most useful tools in my kitchen. I don't know why it didn't work out well the first time. I may have been using the wrong size disc to puree the apples. I have found the disc with the largest sized holes have worked well for my apples and also strawberries. I am planning a large garden this summer and look forward to using this food mill to puree tomatoes for sauce. This food mill is very sturdy and durable, easy to use, and purees quickly and efficently. I am so glad I gave this mill a second chance and look forward to using it for years to come!

I purchased this product for one reason.... to make my fresh tomato sauce. The Mill is durable... solid and easy to assemble, clean and use. The Mill as pictured shows a white accent button on the handle. However, my product arrived as all stainless steel. This was not an issue for me, considering that I had preferred an all stainless steel product. I was thinking that the white accent button would become discolored over time with the red tomatoes I would use this product for. After receiving this product, I was more than happy that it arrived without the white accent button. For the purpose and intention I bought it for - I must give this product five stars. My product came with four different sieves allowing for four differing sizes of cut. Being a "mother sauce" my tomato sauce is a base and must have a consistency that is applicable to many varying cuisines. Thus, I use all four sizes of sieves to grind my batch of tomatoes. For instance, I use the fine sieve to grind one tomato, then the next sieve to grind another tomato, and so on. The result of using all four sieves gives my base tomato sauce a generally ideal base for all the cuisines I choose to cook. After preparing a large batch of tomato sauce, I freeze the sauce and upon my need for the sauce, I then use the Mill to add texture as needed, appropriate to the item I am preparing. Prior to purchasing this product, I was using a combination of a blender and a food processor to try to obtain a texture that I was happy with. I had never found anything that could produce what this Mill can do for the "mouth feel" of the sauce. Though it is more time consuming to use the Mill over a food processor, or blender.... the results are absolutely amazing. I have never tried this Mill with any other foods and am unable to rate, or comment on its abilities for the other foods. If you're one to want to make a genuine, home made tomato sauce.... this Mill is PERFECT!!
