Bought this for sports photography to shoot long distance and let me say this did not disappoint. I was skeptical about buying this because of the reviews but as you can see from the pictures, it’s a pretty decent lens for the price. Now I’m no professional photographer, but I think they look pretty good.

Like most have said it is difficult to have it fully extended without using a tripod or monopod, but I have been using this lens for about a month now and for the price you really can’t beat it. Like others have said it sucks in lowlight but is ideal for full daylight or for partial cloud covered days. I have been using this lens primarily for all my birding photos lately and tried it out at the San Diego Safari Park as well. The sweet spot for not using a tri or monopod is the 420-600 mm range, but if you use it often enough you can get great shots without a tri or monipod. All these photos are without using either. The focus takes a second to get used to as it has a fixed arpeture and smaller section to view through but once you use it enough it is a really great cheap lens. Its also much lighter than most lenses that reach 800mm. The Red-tailed hawk photo was taken at full extension of 800mm.

I wasn't too sure what to expect from this, but I'm frankly amazed with it. While the full manual takes a fast hand and keen eye, after some practice it doesn't take long to get it going well. This can't be beat for the quality and price. This is always in my backpack and sometimes the only lens I'll use for that day's photoshoot. Definitely worth the buy!

What a great lens it is clear and powerful. zooms very well. I was really impressed with the quality for such a good price. This lens is worth it. The pictures came out great. They even sent instructions on how to use manual mode and change the shutter speed on your camera. That was above and beyond great service of them. This is a manual lens. There are no electrical connections. You must adjust the zoom and focus yourself and then you must adjust the exposure on the camera yourself. It is an easy process and jintu Made the process even easier. This product is very well-made. I recommend this lens and would buy it again.

Ive used this lens to take pictures of birds and pictures of the moon. The quality is better than my phone for sure. The only problem I've come across is that the ring to tighten the lens at whatever mm you want does not work if I point the camera straight up and it's fully extended. It will slide back to 420mm instead of staying at 800mm.

I compared cropping a picture using a canon lense to using this lense and I got a better image by cropping a picture taken using the canon 70-250mm lense.

I used this for the recent solar eclipse, since I didn't want to shell out thousands for a fancy lens or rent.Pros: This lens is SHARP. And the magnification is great. It does what it says on the tin. Superlightweight. You probably don't need to use the stabilizing foot.Cons: Strong chromatic abberation, esp around the edges. Better when zoomed in. Low contrast, esp when flaring. Fixed Iris! - f8 at 400mm and f16 at 800mm - Weird, distinct, heavy flares with very bright lights. Now in my posted sample, I also had a variable ND filter which adds to the coloring of the flare pattern and gives it the wonky + shape. When your light source is controlled the flare acts like haze as seen in the thinnest crescent. Very nice, reminds me of old lenses and film stock.Honestly, it's a specialty lens that I'll use whenever I need a telescope, and the price is exactly right, maybe even great.

Be realistic. It’s shaky. It’s not perfectly sharp. There’s significant aberration. Contrast takes a hit. But it’s ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE VALUE. With a bit of post processing and some bumped up sharpness and contrast photos will look great. Would not hesitate to recommend this lens to anyone.

My expectations weren't high when I bought this thing but I was quite amazed after receiving it and using it with my Canon T3 camera. I used it for taking photos of the Moon and for that purpose it's suited by needs very well until I could afford to upgrade to a dedicated Optical tube assembly for that purpose. If you know how to manually focus the lens then this is the perfect budget lens to achieve the level of Zoom that other lenses will charge you $500 to $1,000 for it.

The lens is entirely manual. It is hard to get focus right, and most of the time, I just couldn't get the picture I want, but I still recommend it. I got it because I love taking pictures of wild birds, and they do not let me approach. The focus is hard to get, and the picture quality is not good (I recommend adjusting your light meter a little darker, -1 or -2, than precisely in the middle,0). The lens gets bleached when adjusted in the proper light meter. So taking a darker picture, you can get more information to correct it on photoshop or lightroom. For all the images I got, I had to correct the colour (vibration) in photoshop or lightroom. I am fully aware that a good lens with this configuration would cost me at least a thousand dollars, so let's be realistic here that it does a great job for the price. You have to learn how to focus manually. All these pictures were taken with the lens and without a tripod. I lean against something to give me stability and also hold my breath. It would help if you also used your ISO to get faster-shot speed. It is working well for me, and being honest. I am getting better and better at manually focusing the pictures now. I strongly recommend it for those who want to have some fun and practice manually focusing. Observation: The lens already comes with tripod support in the middle, so you do not need to worry about buying a ring to fit it on the tripod. The zoom is crazily far, and you can get nice shots.

I really wanted to like this lens since it felt like value for money, but not sure what was I thinking seeing all the nice pictures posted by others in the reviews since I could not take even 1 decent shot in about 100 tries. And yes I read about all the manual focussing limitations and different settings I needed to change for ISO and Shutter Speed. I did try it against the moon, against other landscape items in full bright sunlight, with and without tripods, but the lens would just not focus into other than a blur (and I am not even talking about when I clicking the shutter)... the lens focus from the view finder itself was always blurry aka out of focus, despite trying to focus several times with different focal lengths (yes I tried from 420mm all the way to the 800 mm). I also tried with two DSLRs that I have Canon Rebel XSI and T5. May be it works with more high end and newer models... too bad this is going back.
