Unlike most of today's wall warts, this one is old school linear and consequently emits little to no EMI. This makes it ideal for powering sensitive radio equipment and studio audio equipment etc. You will notice that it is bulkier than the more common switch mode supplies and also has a lower current rating. But if your application requires regulated 12 volts DC at less than 500 mA and minimal EMI then this is what you need. The price is very good too. There are a few specialized low, but not zero EMI switch mode supplies available, but they are both scarce and usually 5-10X the price.

It is a nice power supply but it does produce amoderate amount of noise . I am a shortwave listener and I I use it for my DSP unit. To some extent the DSP unit produces more noise than it kills with this unit. This company makes some quiet power supplies. this, is one of them.

Just what I wanted from a power supply for an audio application. I'll get another one soon.

I was experiencing a buzzing noise through my subwoofers after installing a minidsp 2x4HD. This power supply is about 4x heavier than the one that came with the minidsp and reduced the noise about 90%, there's still a faint buzz but extremely low level vs what it was before. Happy with the improvement for the minimal investment.buzz is likely caused by grounding loop, but since the subs are on opposite ends of room and different circuits there's little I can do to address without inputting a signal impacting device in the chain. I think this was a great compromise and made a difference for me.

Good construction. Much less noise on my low watt. Transmitter.

I bought a moderately expensive turntable on another site, and it came with a power supply that weighed 2.8 oz. I tested the power supply with a reasonable load and did not get a steady 12 V. This can not be a good thing, so I jumped into the power supply rabbit hole and came up with this. It supplied a solid 12 V, and weighs in at 14.5 oz. It is quite and does not run hot, so I am a happy camper. I know bigger isn't always better but in this case it definitely is.
