Unlike traditional sequestering agents, The Purple Stuff works extremely well in high salt and high TDS pools. The Purple Stuff keeps silica in solution while greatly reducing the incidence of cell fouling (scaling) in salt (chlorine) generators.

We began to develop some staining in our pool that looked a little like rust spots. We're on a well (no city water), so this could have been the culprit. We were given a bottle of Jack's Magic Spot Etching Stuff from our local pool rep, and the rust stains disappeared in about two weeks. The label also recommended using Jack's Magic Purple Stuff (for salt water pools), which we didn't have at the time. After about 6 months, the staining re-appeared. This time, I treated with Jack's Magic Etching Stuff and the Purple Stuff, and the stains were gone within several hours. Its been several months, and the stains have not come back. Couldn't be happier with this product.

We recently converted our above ground fiberglass pool to salt water. We also have a remington solar chlorine-free sun shock water purifier that floats in our 7500 gallon pool. Since we have well water, we pretty much automatically have hard water combined with the copper from the pump and the purifier. I noticed that pool was starting to get darker and darker but the water stayed clear. After researching what could cause such a discoloration in the fiberglass, I found this stuff. I wasn't expecting much, maybe just to slow down the progression but this stuff is amazing!! I poured it over the steps where it was the darkest and minutes later it was sparkling white. The pump ran for 2 hrs that night and every day over the past week. It has gone from being black with metal building to white with the very faintest of yellow staining. It has way exceeded my expectations! I didn't expect this simple of a solution that's for sure. I feel like using it once or twice a season will keep the pool walls spotless. I wish I'd taken before and after pics just to show how dramatic of a change it produced! Will 100% buy again!

This product is meant for pools using a salt water chlorine generator system. It works very well for us.We use it when some mineral accumulation is visible; it clears the pool walls within a day or two. We use it 2 or 3 times a year.

Got this mostly on the recommendation of my neighbor, who claims that the pristine state of his pool all down to this stuff. As far as stain removal goes, it didn't seem to have much effect. In fairness, the product doesn't claim that it will remove stains; it is more a preventative measure. I will say that my pool water became absolutely sparklingly clear after I used this, but not much difference to the staining. In the end, the thing that had the best effect on my stains was using ascorbic acid, but I will continue to use a sequestering agent such as Jack's to prevent further staining.

not sure if it's because of this stuff, but I've been putting about 8oz of this into my 25,000 gal pool for the last few years and it seems to keep the sand filters all working fine. only note that I've been getting some copper stains accumulating (probably from the heater I ran a few weeks in spring) which this does not seem to eliminate. Apparently I'll have to go to some other Jack's stuff to get rid of that.

This stuff is amazing! No kidding! I see rust stains appearing in my 20K+ gallon salt free chlorine pool on the white steps. I turn of the skimmer pump so I can just focus the pour on the steps at first and then pour the purple stuff right on the steps. After letting it sit calmly for a bit, I turn the pump back on and let it circulate. The steps are bright white. It looks like one of those dental whitening commercials...LOL!
