So the folks downstairs are OK tenants, although they're a bit on the inconsiderate side when it comes to consumption of electricity. This is well-evidenced by their tendency to leave the downstairs bathroom exhaust fan on for extended periods. The fan's vibrations cause annoying vibration that can be heard in the upstairs kitchen. Despite my repeated requests for a little consideration, we don't get any.I finally decided to install this timer in place of the fan's power switch. Installation was a breeze and the timer functions perfectly. I also like that there's no way to bypass or override the timer, so I'm confident that we've finally resolved the issue.Highly recommended!

Simple installation. Correct for the application. Face plate was a little bigger but the old switch plate worked just fine.

The timer works well for the bathroom fan. Seems flimsy compared to previous timer but easier to turn. I am pleased.

No complaints with the operation, installation, except for the plastic knob cracks on inside to where it spins on the stem from normal usage. I know I'm not cranking hard or anything. I've ordered two of these and both knobs cracked. I had to use epoxy to glue it back together and reinforce it. Since then, no problems. If you're going to buy these, epoxy the back of the knobs to reinforce it so it won't crack on you.

I bought these to control the vent fans in the bathrooms and they work perfectly. The original fan switches were toggle type switches, (which no one in the house ever remembered to turn off when through). Just pull the old toggle switch out and install the rotary switch in the same spot. The rotary switch comes with a cover plate that will go over the old rectangular toggle switch opening. As you can see from the pictures, these switches fit nicely on either a single or a double switch plate.

The only thing needed is an off switch overriding the timer. This way you can switch it off earlier...

Bought three of these, good quality and work as described. Fit nicely, and easily in decora switch plate. Read instructions, very simple.

This does exactly what it says it does ... Switches on for up to 30 minutes. I used this to turn on a 1980's Life Breath HRV remotely. The remote turn on is low voltage like a thermostat and this worked perfectly.Don't listen to the supposed Electrician with 30 years of experience. He can't be a very good one if he doesn't understand how to trim this switch out. You are meant to put a decora trim plate on before the Intermatic trim plate that comes with the timer. That is why there is the foam spacer, to take up the extra space when it is sitting on top of the Decora trim plate. It even shows it in this configuration on the pictures.

Based on the actual product, this review would have been closer to five stars. It is a basic traditional mechanical dimmer switch and it works fine. Installation was a little more painful than necessary (terminal screws are not prestarted, and it takes good ideas and bright lights to figure out where they and the wires go, and the mounting screws are not preinserted and held in with little cardboard squares like every single one of the hundreds of switches and receptacles I have installed), but these are minor quibbles. The big reason I only gave this switch four stars is that when it first arrived, it required so much force to turn it backwards to turn it off that I wasn't sure it was supposed to. No instructions came with it, nor were any available on the Intermatic web site's product page. I saw 3 other reviewers had the same problem or question, and I had to ask a question on the amazon product page - and still didn't get definitive answers. But after using it a few times I tried again to turn it back, and this time it turned, even though I was initially afraid to apply the amount of force it required to make it start to move. (After this first time it went more easily.) So the deducted star is for lack of clear instructions, not for the actual product. This despite it coming with voluminous (but not extremely helpful) installation instructions. Mine was made in Tanzania.

i was searching all over for a 24 hour timer that was NOT digital (since i can not find a simple digital up counter timer anywhere). well this is literally the best, and simplest timer i could find. I crank it to 12 hours, and if i look at it 12+ hours later, and it is pointing at "0", i know that at least 12 hours have gone by.Simple. No room for error. works every time.i still wish i could find a 24 hour one, but apparently they do not make one.i do not use the electrical switch function at all, i am just using it as a timer, but i assume it would work well as a switch too.
