I replaced the faucet on my InSinkErator insta-hot system three years ago (due to style, not function), and didn't replace the tank at that time.Recently the water coming out of the faucet would spit and sputter after flowing for about 10 seconds. I unplugged the unit and let it cool (to be sure it wasn't 'too hot' water as suggested by most troubleshooting searches. Even with cold water flowing through the tank and faucet, the sputtering continued.I bought this set with the tank (model HWT) and faucet (even though my existing insta-hot faucet works fine) because of the $20 price difference between this set and the tank alone. (The price difference has since increased significantly, and is now more like a $75 difference). So now I have a spare faucet for the future.Upon removing the old tank, I discovered that it was manufactured 12 years ago. With the exception of the sputtering, it was still working (heating) just fine.I installed the new tank by simply hanging it on the screws from the old tank and connecting the three water lines from the installed insta-hot faucet. Following the directions, I held the faucet open until the tank filled and water started flowing, and I continued to flush the line for about another two minutes. At that point, I connected power to the tank (just plugged it in).About 15 minutes later I had hot water coming from the faucet and no sputtering. Problem solved.

This is the third model of the heater I've had in house. The overall dimensions and connections have remained consistent. These are not cheap considering the basic purpose of the product, but was advantageous to replace with a matching product. The model being replaced lasted approximately 9 years and was used multiple times/day on a daily basis. Two comments that I'd add:-ONLY ON A "GUT FEEL" basis, this unit does not seem to get (the water) as hot as the replaced unit. Unfortunately I did not get a pure temp reading on output on the older model before it died (leaking seriously)-The copper pipe for incoming water was considerably shorter on this one than previous models, which meant I had to fabricate more copper pipe to connect, rather than just connecting. This took extra expense and time (and trip to plumbing supply store). IF THIS IS A NEW INSTALLATION, this point is irrelevant as you're having to buy pipe and fittings anyway. If you're replacing a similar unit, keep the shorter in mind.

An excellent addition to any kitchen sink. Water is hot and flows nicely. We love it.The only warning for installation: Make sure the available hole in the kitchen counter is equivalent to the diameter of the hardware. We had to have the granite drilled slightly to accommodate the pipe.

We haven’t used it much by we love it. I like the way you can control the heat. Had to get a electrician to bring power plug to underneath my kitchen sink .

Handle fell off in my hand when I pulled out of package. I could t exchange thru Amazon because price had gone up over $100. Unhappy customer here. This was to replace the same unit which lasted 20 years.

This is the fourth InSinkErator hot water dispenser I've had in the last 20 years. Once you put one in, the darn thing is so convenient, you won't want to be without it when it quits in ~7 years. My first three were Hot-1: the original one-piece unit. Since it's no longer available, I went with this one.The price of the special faucet is absurd, so hopefully any future failures will be in the tank, which, while expensive, is less than the whole thing.Installation wasn't too bad: I had to make a trip to the hardware store, as I needed to extend the copper water-inlet line. The pre-set temperature is supposed to be 200ºF, but was only 160ºF, so I had to turn it up a bit.And when this one craps out, I'll most likely be buying another tank, unless something better is available.

When we had our house lifted after getting flooded by Hurricane Sandy, my wife said that she wanted an instant hot water heater for our kitchen. I purchased this through Amazon in February 2015, but didn't get to install it until September 2015. The installation was pretty easy based on the instructions that were included. My wife loves the convenience of the instant hot water heater since she is a big tea drinker.Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, we noticed that bottom of the cabinet was wet. We traced it back to the tank of the instant hot water heater. I checked my Amazon history and saw that the unit was out of its three-year warranty. I checked YouTube and found a few videos where people took the unit apart and caulked the tank to stop the leak, with varying amounts of success.I saw a link on Amazon for contacting the manufacturer and figured I'd give it a shot. I explained the situation in the online form, and got a response the next day. They asked me for the serial number of the unit, which I sent them, and was told that the unit was out of warranty (which I already knew). They offered me, as a sign of goodwill, a replacement tank for FREE with the caveat that I had to get it installed myself. I took them up on their offer (a no- brainer) and received it a week later in the mail. It took me all of about 5 minutes to disconnect the three hoses, remove the old unit, install the new unit, and then reconnect the hoses. Another minute to fill the tank with water, plug it in, and we once again have instant hot water! If you are looking at different manufacturers for an instant hot water heater look no further than InSinkErator!
