Your cart is empty. Hemostats/forceps are a handheld, hinged instrument used for grasping and holding objects. Forceps are used when fingers are too large to grasp small objects or when many objects need to be held at one time while the hands are used to perform a task. The hemostats from Hobby Tool Supply are self locking and made from 100% stainless steel, so they are fully autoclavable. Each tool features serrated jaws to ensure a firm grip on nearly any object. Forceps are commonly used by fishermen, doctors, dentists, and even for piercings.

I purchased these hemostats/forceps for freshwater aquarium use. I've had them for over a month now. They are Much better than expected. I expected there to be quality issues, but none have emerged! They lock security in all of the ratchet positions. I use them in a 10" deep freshwater aquarium, and then put them away wet. So far no rust nor discoloration of the metal. I was worried about their clamping strength due to the length of the handles and the inherent possibility off those handles flexing when gripping something. What I can tell you is that my worries were without merit. These forceps can pick up all sizes of Malaysian Trumpet Snails, and crush them easily, allowing my fish to feast on snail meat. I can also easily pick up the same snails and remove them from the tank without crushing them if so desired. I also use them for pushing plants into the gravel. And the topper is that I can do everything mentioned without getting my hands wet in the process!

My 6' model was slowly wearing out, getting flimsy, and not allowing me to grasp fishhooks for removal from bass I catch. These are a more heavy duty model and I do like um better.

Someone suggested using these as light duty backpacking pliers, so I added them to my keychain. That day I was replacing the parking light bulb in my car, and cursing myself for forgetting to bring pliers out to the car. Voila! My everyday-carry hemostats were just what I needed. Woot!

I was looking for a tool to extract lint from my dryer from a very narrow slot just below the door. 12" hemostat was too short. This 16" hemostat works perfectly!
