This combination set of tap and drill works very well in drilling and tapping and it has 6 sizes in one set, which match your different demands perfectly.

Drilled/tapped 2 holes successfully, snapped off in the third while reversing it out. Not only do I need new bits, also need a new aluminum extrusion.

Bought these to taps some extruded aluminum and on the 3rd hole the m5 broke.

I usually buy good bits; but I needed this to just do 6 holes, just 6. Bought this for the M5 tap. This is for a $38,000 dollar custom fabrication. I pre-drilled the holes to just under 5mm (forget which size). Even with it predrilled all the way though, in 1/8" thick mild steel, the tap broke on the second hole. I was actually backing it up when it snapped. Then when I grabbed the broken off shard with my pliers, it snapped again, cleanly at the hole. Following all this I was able to knock the bit out of the hole with a punch, the bit just shattered in the hole and came out in chunks. Take a look at the grain in the photo, super poor quality.-Wont but this again - you get what you pay for.

This is a great metric drill and tap kit. The shank of the bit has thread cutters on it and being made of titanium it is very strong. Make sure you go slow and easy with some kind of cutting oil. On thicker pieces be sure to go back and forth several times to give the threads a chance to clean out or the bit will snap.

They worked really good chasing out a hole with damage threads. I did test them out on an 1/8 inch piece of plate steel. There was able to drill the hole, and tap the threads. Just don't forget to use some type of cutting oil.

I only tried these in a 1/8” aluminum plank, and they work great: quick and easy thread-making bits. They do center well by themselves, still I would not recommend using these with a hand-drill, a bench drill press at low speed is what it takes for these to work reliably. In thicker metal, I would pre-drill a pilot hole, as the drilling tip of the bit may not advance at the pace needed for cutting the thread.

They’re decent enough for the price. You cannot run them at high speed in steel or they overheat and you’ll shorten their lifespan. Use cutting oil and they’ll last a good amount of time.
