For doorbells
- 1.Loosen the screw behind the doorbell.
- 2.Link 2 wire tips to the two terminal on the back of the doorbell.
- 3.Switch on the 120V AC power, until the rim of the button flash white light.
- 4.Starts to work when the Power voltage is good.
For thermostats
1. Cut off the power of circuit breaker.
2. Install the wire from your 24 volt adapter to the “C” terminal and the other wire to the “RC” terminal. You need to use included jumper and connect from “RH” to “RC” terminals，if HVAC system has a cooling.
3. Plug the power adapter into the socket and turn on the power of the circuit breaker.
4. Install the panel on the thermostat.

Got the wires connected but couldn't figure out how to get the Nest back on the base with the wires (...plus didn't seem like it was working anyway) so came here and actually read thru the comments and I'm SO GLAD I DID! Firstly, one thing I maybe missed in the instructions is that you need to detach the base part with the wires from the wall cover, run it thru, attach the wires, and screw it back on in order to be able to get the nest back on the base.Secondly, the person who mentioned the white wire WITH THE GREY LINE needs to be connected to the C socket and the other one (in the pic it has the #s on it) goes to Rc. I tried to run the system and that didn't work but it would work with just the blue white in the C socket (...and then it gave me the power outage error after a few minutes)... so I just put the white/grey line wire WITH THE blue one in the C socket, the other wire in the Rc... and worked like gangbusters!Living in Texas, in the middle of summer without reliable AC is awful so I'm overjoyed that the fix was this $15 adapter! The little wire holders supplied are super nice too - they give you more than you need - so I could run the wire up over the 1/2-bath door to the outlet.

This is the best and cheapest route to maintain power to your nest if your house isn’t equipped with a c-wire. Easy to install and provides continuous power. I saved hundreds of dollars by not having to have my nest reworked to my HVAC or broiler for power.

Thermostat stopped working after 3 seasons. After reinstalling the old thermostat (with no common wire) everything worked. This wire had burn marks surrounding the insulation near the terminal. Wires themselves fused together. Gauge not large enough to keep the nest terminal lock depressed, even when doubling back on itself.

This product is great, super helpful and easy to install. So why do half the reviews say it works with Nest, and half say it DOESN'T work with Nest? After many days of trial and error and enough research to make me a subject matter expert on 2 wire systems, I've found that it all boils down to this: Nest has a finnicky base. I installed this 6 or 7 different times before my Nest was happy. I checked polarity, I checked voltage, I tried wrapping the smaller wire around the larger wire where they both connect to the same port.... ultimately it just took a lot of careful placement and then it worked. My Nest has been happily powered and error free since then. Of course now I'm afraid to remove it to touch up the paint where my former larger thermostat sat but that's a different matter altogether....Still worth it to go to a programmable thermostat.

I see a lot of people asking if this works with a regular nest thermostat. The answer is yes. I have an old 2 wire, heat only system and an old furnace with nothing labeled (so the nest C wire adapter would be a pain to figure out and install) The regular nest thermostat doesn’t have an Rc terminal so one wire from this has to go to the C terminal and one has to go to the R terminal. This can be a problem because the R wire from your system has to also go into the R terminal. My wires are old and thick and fitting both in was a chore. It did work though. However, I was concerned if I ever had to disconnect the unit, getting it hooked up again would be difficult. The wires of this transformer are stranded copper wires that have a conductive coating at the exposed end that keeps them together. IME, these coating tend to be fragile. If one came off, the stranded wires would no longer work with the nest thermostat and I’d have to buy a new C wire transformer.Ultimately, the cost of the transformer, trim kit, and nest thermostat was only a little less than the nest learning thermostat ( which doesn’t need a C wire and comes with a trim kit). I ended up returning all that stuff and just buying the nest learning thermostat. Something to consider if you have an older system and wiring.

This transformer is like aspirin! It arrived quickly, and was easy to hook up. It’s been plugged in and powering my thermostat for several months now, without a single issue.I bought a smart wifi thermostat to replace my older thermostat that didn’t need a C wire. Ohh... I can’t tell you how frustrating this was. I had the C wire, but it wasn’t plugged into anything. Being that I’m not an electrician I didn’t want to blow up my furnace or a/c, or new thermostat by connecting the C wire to the wrong thing. HEADACHE!! So I looked for a safer fix, and found this.I read the review that suggested that this burned up someone else’s thermostat, so I was concerned. But, I’ve realized that that person obviously plugged the live/positive wire into the wrong spot, or possibly with the negative wire. As someone else instructed; One wire goes in the R slot with the red wire and the other goes in the C slot. If you aren’t sure which wire is positive please use a voltage meter to check before hooking it up. If the wires are marked: wire with the stripe or the dashed lines carries the "positive" (+) end, while the other, unmarked wire carries the "negative" (-) end. Positive should go to the C wire place on the thermostat. If you don’t do this properly you can create a fire hazard, but it’s not this product’s fault.
