Bought a 2 handgun safe, so a small dehumidifier was important. This doesn't take up much space, and recharging should be quick. Time will tell. I was happy with the price also

When installed in the gun safe the moisture was 58.6%, the moisture after 3 days is now 55.8% and is unchanged since day #2. The gun safe is only 7 cubic feet. I am using a device called SensorPush for monitoring humidity. From what I read, the humidity should be about 50% or less for safe gun storage. If this stalls out and doesn’t drop further, I will be returning the device. I did microwave as instructed on the packaging.

The Hornady Rapid Dry Dehumidifier Stone is a rechargeable desiccant designed to absorb moisture in enclosed areas like gun safes, ammo cans, or even instrument cases. Here's a look at its strengths and weaknesses:Pros:Simple to Use: Just place the stone in your safe and let it work. The color-changing indicator lets you know when it's time to recharge.Easy Recharge: Unlike some desiccant packs, the Hornady stone doesn't require harsh chemicals or replacements. Pop it in the microwave for a quick refresh.Reusable: With proper care, the Hornady stone can be reused for many cycles, making it an economical choice in the long run.Compact Size: This stone is ideal for small safes, gun cases, or ammo cans where space is limited.Cons:Limited Capacity: While effective in small spaces, the Hornady stone might not be strong enough to handle significant humidity levels in large gun safes. For bigger areas, consider using multiple stones or a stronger dehumidifier.Recharging Needs: The microwave regeneration process is convenient, but some users might find it cumbersome compared to passive dehumidifiers that require less maintenance. Not Size-Adjustable: The stone comes in one size, so it might not be suitable for oddly shaped storage areas.Overall:The Hornady Rapid Dry Dehumidifier Stone is a user-friendly and economical solution for moisture control in small spaces. Its reusability and easy recharge make it a good choice for gun owners who want a hassle-free way to protect their firearms and ammo from rust. However, for larger gun safes or areas with high humidity, a more powerful dehumidifying system might be necessary.

Hornady Dehumidifier Stone, is a great accessory to have. The Hornady doesn't leak pellets, like other dehumidifiers do.Drying in the microwave, is fast and easy.Lots of water comes out when you dry it - so it sure works.

This dehumidifier appears to be doing its thing, the space seems to be relatively dry and simple enough to "recharge" for continued use.

For someone that lives by the ocean, my humidity levels are sometimes off the charts, and things that are in my safe, closets, boxes etc. all need to be dehumidified.First fantastic benefit of this is that is made by a well-known brand in the gun-world which is Hornady.Secondly, it is a stone that needs just 9 minutes in a microwave to be renewed. This one I cannot emphasize enough. I had those little bead dehumidifiers that I needed to put in an oven - by their instructions - and it exploded. I had a bunch of chemical beads all over my oven and I will never use those again. As for the size, this is perfect for a small safe that you use while traveling with a firearm or ammo, a bullet box, or your gun case that you take to the range. For a full gun/home safe (ones that are six feet tall) you need something a bit bigger - and it will definitely cost more then $30.As for this particular dehumidifier stone - it's a great price for a great product. Definitely something that every gun owner needs and everyone that lives in humid areas.

I initially put this in my bathroom by the shower to get it to change color, and it did after 3 days. Put it in the microwave and while hot handling, the silicon allows you to touch without issue. Have had it in one of my gun safes for over 2 months, and it's only changed a little bit - enough to demonstrate to me it's still working, but I wonder how long until I have to "recharge" it again. Great investment, I have purchased a couple more for my 3d printing filament storage boxes.
